Howdy folks (first post Smile )

I'm still a newish G2 engine owner (previosley had a G1) but I've noticed a little drop in sound quality whenever I bring in new blocks on screen or delete them?

The high end seems to be a little muffled when ever I do this however doing the same thing again makes the sound brighter to how it should be.

I've noticed this on a drum/sequencer patch I've been fiddling with and repeating the above step I've noticed very sporadic like the fidelity of the patch hasn't quite been recalculated properly. dunno

I've updated the latest OS ad 64 Windows drivers.

Any words from the wise?

welcome Vader77

What happens is .. every time the patch is changed by altering cables or adding or removing modules the patch is recompiled for running on a DSP, when that happens oscillator phases will be set to new random values. This means that some waves could cancel sometimes or reinforce each other at other times.

When you do not want this ... you can slightly detune the oscillators such that the phase will constantly change, or alternatively you can sync all oscillators on patch startup by patching a constant module set to a positive value to all oscillator's sync inputs, such that they'll have a phase reset at patch startup.

great thank you! thumleft

I thought about the phasing but didn't think it would be an issue with the type of sounds but I was wrong.

this thing is alive!!! Cool

It occurs to me that you might not want all oscillators to hit phase zero degrees at the same time, while at the same time not being able to use an oscillator with a phase setting. In this case you might be able to solve your problem by putting a login delay module between whatever you're using to reset sync and the oscillator's sync input.

Hmm, I should try this out. Smile
