Subject description: potentially after upgrade to 6.04 from 4.x

Hello, I am the new owner of a Nord Stage EX Compact.
While certainly I understand that I may have purchased a broken used item, I do have confidence in the guy from whom I bought it. He took impeccable care of the unit and only used it in his church.

The modulation wheel does not show any response, even after being set up as described in the manual

(hold wheel button, change variable dial to set the range of modulation, release wheel button, and move wheel to test success)

Regardless of which variable I set, there is no response at all from the mod wheel. Having contacted my seller, he indicated that it worked fine for him. (I know, likely story). I upgraded the unit to the current OS the moment I bought it, so never tested it with OS 4.x from which it was upgraded.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Hi arichards

I am Yoshi from Japan.

I am the owner of nord stage ex compact too, and having the same problem. Mod wheel is not working.

I connected Nord to computer with midi cable and I figured out that the my Nord doesn't send any MIDI data for wheel on Logic.

I usually use Piano and Organ sound but not synth sound.
and I barely had the chance to use wheels.
I didn't notice it's not working so I am not sure when this problem has been,
but I bought this keyboard on September so maybe I don't think I broke it in this short time.

I thought it might be a bug or something, and I was looking for information and I found this forum and person having the same problem.

Did anything change since then?

Thank you.

Hey Yoshi.
yes. I actually tracked down a local dealer and authorized repair facility nearby and they were able to do an authorized repair on my Nord.

They indicated that it was as simple as an unplugged cable that ran to the mod wheel. Once plugged in, everything returned to perfect performance.

He did mention to me that it was a little difficult to navigate inside a Nord on one's own, and that he would not recommend it (of course), but that the "repair" was really easy once he knew where to look.

They only charged Nord $50 for the repair, basically, the time it took to open and close the machine.

Good luck!

hi Yoshi.
does the mod.wheel work for you when you're not connected to a computer via MIDI?
if yes, have you checked your MIDI settings, so the NS are set to send mod.wheel data??
