Signals with Shivasongster will be a bi-weekly program that will feature a range of electronic and electro-acoustic material starting from my early 4-track experiments right up to the most current material composed using modern looping and soft-synth programs. After a couple of weeks of using some pre-recorded tracks, I may also branch out into some live experiments.

FRIDAY 03:00-04:00 GMT (THURSDAY 10-11pm EST)
Signals with Shivasongster

Hi, Jeremy.

I'd be very interested in hearing your show as well, although the time is too late for me, so I'd have to listen either to a re-broadcast or download the show.

BTW, 2:00 - 3:00 GMT Friday doesn't seem like a conflict with other shows, but unless my math is off, 9:00 to 10:00 EST Thursday conflicts with Music from Last Thursday.

There does seem to be a one hour overlap there.

Just completed the tentative playlist that I will DJ/MC this week. It includes a debut of a new piece of music recorded just for the program in Propellerhead's Record and inspired from some film/radio loops from Computer Music Magazine.

Then we'll take a stroll down Fostex X-26 4-track memory lane and visit the beginning of my electro journey that includes a Casio Casitone MT-250 that my parents had to put on layaway to buy for me (I still have the slip from 1987!)

From there we'll progress to stuff that never quite left the studio, and some modern examples of where those early recordings led, right up to present day with a couple tracks from my latest album Chaos Rise Up.

The second show (2/17) will fill in some of these blanks further, also drawing from my late 80s & early 90s 4-track sessions, on to Cakewalk/Sonar experiments, then my discovery of Acid (the looping program, not the drug), and eventually finding Reason.

I've had a lot of fun putting this together. If anyone will appreciate it - the electro-crowd will, so I am really looking forward to sharing some of my audio arcana and special moments with you.

Took another stroll down 4-track memory lane this week on Signals with Shivasongster. We’ll continued with some early recordings from my Fostex X-26 years (1989-1995), featuring keyboards such as the Korg ES-50 and Korg Poly-800, and even my trusty Casio Casiotone MT-520. Also, the Alesis HR16:B drum machine.

We then moved into some electro-inspired tracks from my earlier albums, Mandala, Cadillacs & Tarantulas and Bloomsburg to Bangladesh watching the transition from experimental to more song-based material. Then back to experimental with some stuff closer to present-day.

Then on to some music from Schrum/dePrisco play collaboration Immaculate Misconceptions. Signals with Shivasongster – March 17, 2011 – In celebration of St. Patty’s Day, this show featured an “enhanced” version of the ol’ Irish tune “All For Me Grog” originally recorded during some formative recording experiences at Lebanon Valley College with friend Matt Homiak while he was taking courses there. The we moved into a series of shorter pieces from the cutting room floor inspired by circus music and (mostly) Eastern European styles – pieces originally composed for a live sideshow project. The evening wrapped up with a Buddhism-inspired piece from Immaculate Misconceptions and several songs from my latest album, Chaos Rise Up.

For show #6, we continued with some sort-of-electro tracks from Chaos Rise Up and Catch the Squirrel. From there we explored some very rough experiments, including some of the better elements from 2007′s Inlaw’s Attic session.

Each year since 2006 I’ve brought a portable studio to my inlaw’s place during our Christmas holiday visit. It provides a much-needed break from the holiday craziness and presents a different environment in which to create.

Signals with Shivasongster – April 28, 2011 – Back to the archives this week, where we explored tracks created using Acid Pro, the loop-based production tool.
