bugbrands panel Subject description: Bit of guidance/assistance needed |
|
|
Hi all,
I built up my mps board, designed the front panel (same as bugbrands)made an enclosure and then realised that my board is rev 107 and is missing junctions 19 and 21.
So my first question (one at a time as I have more after this is sorted) can I just wire up the front panel the same as the bugbrand panel and just ignore the fact I have these junctions missing?
Or do I have to make a different panel?
Yes I am a thicko with electronics but I enjoy making things
cheers

Well, I don't think you need 19 (I think those were extra V+ and ground pads) but without 21 you'll have to do something for the Noise CV pot that Bugbrand has on his panel (row 1 column 2 if viewed from rear). Apparently this was omitted in later boards out of fear of patching negative voltages into the LM13700. (?)
You could either add a Noise CV as a mod to your board, or use the pot for something else (like a separate decay for the filter as someone recently suggested in the giant main 26-page thread on MPS builds).
Also, the Noise CV jack input would be irrelevant if you lose the Noise CV pot. |

Thanks for your reply,
I am going to build it out and use the panel I've made and just ignore the fact that the noise cv doesn't do anything.
As long as the other wiring isn't affected it's not much of a worry.
many thanks
Paul
Then again......I think I'll just take a peek at the thread you mentioned....lol. |

Good luck with it!
PS Do note that bugbrand's panel only includes the Synth level out, not a standard audio out w/ master volume pot (which is what wire J17-6 is for). If you aren't going straight into a VCA, this is one way you could mod bugbrand's layout a bit. |
