So, for some reason Manual Mode doesn't do anything when I switch into it. This is strange because it was working....

Any suggestions? Maybe I pressed a key without knowing it? Or is it time to take this bad boy in for repairs?

Thanks a lot in advance.

welcome phesago

What did it do in the first place?
Hitting a key can't disturb the Manual stettings.
Do you mean no sound or is there no loading of the saved routing?
No sound can mean a knob, most likely the gain is in the wrong position.

So, yeah, I am dumb. The gain was all the way down. I guess mishaps like this happen when I first wake up. Rolling Eyes

Nice read! I like how you had a picture of a Prophet 5, as I am having problems with mine now, I didn't know I need a MIDI filter to use with newer gear. Have any suggestioons for this? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I would like to know if there is a piece of hard ware you'd suggest for this task, as my google-fu isn't showing me too many results. Anyway....

To answer some of your questions, yes I tend to generally work from scratch. Editing some presets is fun and all, but like you mention in your article, it's best to know the "How and Why" behind the knobs/sliders. Not to mention, sometimes programming from scratch can vary based on the mood I am in. For me, it's easier to figure out what sound I need/want and piece it together from there. I tend not to edit presets as much as I write over them with things I have made on my own.

Manual mode on this unit is nothing like the Prophet 5 though, mainly due to the noise generator and the cross wave forms. I wish the Nord Lead had a knob just for noise.
