Subject description: A G3 (G2?) Micro Modular

Korg are raking it in. So are Apple. As are Teenage Engineering. But the old Nord Micromodular is still just as relevant- if not more than its ever been in its entire lifetime.

The production of a new G3 I think is off limits. But those looking for a small box, well I think the market is still there- still really strong. Like the original, it doesn't have to have a keyboard, it doesn't have to be large. It probably doesn't have to have illuminated collars (although that would be nice!).

But it's a market opportunity that Clavia have really messed up on. They could make a lot of money by tapping this little niche area. Korg's Monotron has sold thousands- and you still can't even get them in Toys r Us!! What the F*** is up with these marketing guys? It's the new Stylophone! And as for the Monotribe? Well this looks like a load of fun too!!

+1

Sounds like a cunning plan, keep the cost of the unit arund £200 mark and they'd have a winner.

I mean I've posted this before, but I LOVE this tune and look at the amount of hits to this vid? It's all Nord Micro (and KORG!) The two go hand in hand!!!!!!

Wout, please send this to Nordelius, and kick him up the arse from me and all the other MM lovers worldwide! Evil or Very Mad Laughing

Here's the DMA-1 thing. Well the MM could always do modular. Another reason. This unit retails at £499 (pounds not dollars). £500 for a new MM sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I personally would want something nord lead looking with a sample oscillator and hidden modular functionality. Best of all nords and would not scare off the timid. But that's just me, I wouldn't dream of giving Clavia advice, even if I feel they are playing a little safe for the moment. I think the fact that John Bowen finally has got his feet off the ground is general good news in many ways. God knows what kind of money is invested in the Solaris so far!

I am sure you are right though, there is lots more happening in the sub-1000 market.

Sure. But I'm afraid you may be in a minority (like the other's wanting their G3's)

A multi-function 'busy box' is where it's at- especially in Japan and in the States. The Nord Micro is a cult item, and highly sought after. Clavia could easily repeat the magic with or without a sample oscillator. What about an iPad as the editor? (Although I originally shunned this idea, I now think it would be pretty good).

And DP/2 or not, you should come to Birmingham anyway! Very Happy

Ah Bristol. Lovely city. I used to live there- in St Andrews, Clifton and err....Bedminster!! Laughing Shocked

I moved here, regretted the decision, but I have a lovely wife and two darling little children- so it wasn't all bad
