Subject description: Rig is shaping up for KCEM'11
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Just received my Sonuus i2M (USB pitch-to-MIDI converter). A significant improvement over the G2M.

Experimenting with setups led to an iPod Touch with MorphWiz, a Nintendo DSi with Electroplankton and a Korg Kaossilator feeding through an Edirol M10-MX mixer and out the AUX into the i2M to control a gaggle of softsynths on a MacBook (KORE 2, Miroslav Pilharmonik, AAS VA-1, etc.). An Akai MPK Mini gives keyboard and drum pad inputs.

All the input sounds + the softsynths contribute to the mix. The whole rig is small and lightweight, and runs for a max of two hours on batteries (limited by the mixer).

Feels kind of creepy not to use a hardware synth, but this might be the year. Whoa! pirat

I'd love to haul the big modular and choice vintage goodies out to perform at this year's event now that I live nearby.

Scot sounds great! I was just talking to Har about you and him playing in KC this year. I will add you and hopefully Har to the list.

Very Happy

Ah, I should mention... the sort of music I (we) do is sort of electronic/experimental/psychedelic rock... Ideally, my partner (Har, host of Nightscaping and ambient guitarist) would be accompanying me. My project is called Christus and the Cosmonaughts and we are on Beta-lactam Ring Records (www.blrrecords.com).

I'd love to come out there and met you all... I feel like I already know some of you.

I have a "modest" modular...

Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.

plus VCS3, Minimoog, P5, Kyma, etc. It'd be great fun to take them out for a ride.

Lotsa DIY in that modular, none of which would have been possible without this forum.

Excellent... hope you can bring your monster modular to the festival. The modular/sDIY crowd will be well-represented!

What a monster... AND you're bringing a VCS3?... that is some serious fire power!

I might have to bring some of my vintage gear along this year... =)

Really looking forward to this years event!

Yeah, the VCS3 and the Big Fella will be there, and some other goodies, too. Should be fun... it'll be even more fun if you bring your vintage goodies!

Would be great if you could bring these. I built a VCS3 filter clone (Yusynth diode-ladder filter) and a MiniMoog clone (Yusynth Transistor ladder filter). We could compare the clones with the actual filters -- will be a lot of fun!

Absolutely! I haven't decided exactly what I will bring out yet, but those are pretty well a given for a performance. I have lots of other vintage stuff (Prophet-5, OBXa, PPG, Odyssey), too, but I don't want to wind up with an unmanageable rig.

(I built those same Yusynth modules for my system, actually)

I can't wait to get an up close look at your modular!

Guess it's time for me to officially say: yep, I'm in! Smile
(or rather: we're in)

We will be closing official sign up in the next few days. If you are considering performing, please drop me a line and let me know what you are thinking.

Thanks to everyone that has signed up thus far! The line up is fabulous and I think each year this festival just seems to grow and take new forms. Very Happy

Jon Doe, Ryan Lee Toms, and Suicide Lane were also added to the performers list for 2011.
I also have caught wind of Scot Solida possibly doing lighting for the event as well. Very Happy
