Subject description: Resonance not really adjustable
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hi everyone,

I build the Steiner VCF and it works fine when I put a signal in. But trying to autooscillate the filter looks like a on/off system. What I did was: eliminating the input source, turn counter clockwise the input poti and then turn clockwise the resonance poti. Until 85 % of the way the output shows nothing. Then very apruptly I got a signal. It seems to be a clipped signal, it's a rectangle with an aplitude of 30 V peak to peak. And I am not able to reduce the signal. At a certain moment the signal disappears suddenly. Turning a very, very small bit in the other direktion the signal appears again with this huge amplitude.

Does anyone can give me a hint where I can look at. I've resoldered nearly everything. I rechecked the values of the resistors and capacitors. Everything seems to be o.k.

Thank you in advance !!

No that's normal this filter is no good at auto-oscillating gently in this version of the design.
