Subject description: pre-order cutoff on 4th of July

Dave Kendall recently told us about a circuit he designed, converting MIDI 2 Clock:
http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-47703.html
check out this thread.

some of indicated interest in professional made PCBs for this project. dave and me would do a PCB run if there would be interest in at least 30pcs.

the highlights of this project:
- MIDI input, and outputs 24PPQN CLOCKS, START, CONTINUE and STOP pulses.
- onboard 2-stage divider network with GATE and TRIGGER outputs (for different time signatures, pulse divisions and pulse widths)
- using just a rotary switch and 8 SPST changeover toggle switches (no menus or LCDs, or any of that malarkey)
- operating from 1 BPM to 250 BPM, and will track tempo changes smoothly.
- LED indicators for the various outputs, and a MIDI receive LED
- pin-header on the PCB that carries decoded MIDI as CMOS-compatible 8-bit parallel +5V logic, along with other useful internal circuit signals
- other pin-headers on the board allow for expansion to further circuits, eg, more divider stages, or remotely controlling the action of the switches.
- pin headers too for the transmit section of the main processor (CV to MIDI)
- no programmable ICs used, and no calibration is needed

The PCB is quite large (5.4 3.3 in), the price would be 12.-EUR/17.-USD (depending on exchange rate and order quantities).
I could do bundles with the UART, if needed.

Building Documentation now uploaded:
M2C Documentation PDF(approx. 2MB)

that's how the board will look like:
M2C board

i hope to do a video demo together with the klee2, cubase and or ableton on weekend (given that the new camcorder comes in time).

Ah good, another Fonitronik fix (with able support from Mr Kendall).

You can put me down for at least one (possibly more, if you need to reach a threshold).

Regards

Hi guys.

Thanks for the interest Smile
The UART is a CMOS 3-state serial to parallel interface, that with extra logic ICs and other components, turns the MIDI serial data into parallel data. The old name for it is the IM6402IPL, and the newer version (made by Intersil) is the HD3-6402R-9Z. According to the intersil website, it's still being made. Both work, and the slower 2mHz version of either type works fine.

As far as the rest of the project data goes, I'll knock up a BOM and build notes when I get the time (very busy this week....). The schematic will be released after we've double-checked it with the boards, when we get them.

cheers!
Dave

If the UART is needed for this then I'd be interested in getting it bundled with the PCB. It saves me having to hunt it down and paying for shipping twice.

I'd for sure take a PCB, and I'd echo the request for a bundled UART if possible.
