Hi,

This is my first post here, so hello all!

I'm a long time A6 user and lover, but my Andy is having some issues with the pots. The guy who repairs my stuff (a really number one) restored all the pots but one of them is damaged. He also told me that the build quality is very low.

The question is:
Does anyone know the brand and model of any spare part?

The knob is not branded, so I can't find any spare over the net BUT the one at http://www.instrumentalparts.com/ala6ansppa.html that it's astronomical expensive for a pot (11$ + shipping), when it should be something like 2$ and I'd like having a stock of them.

Thanks for your help!

Regards,

isn't there more info in the service manual ? ( in the tips and tricks link somewhere on the end : http://electro-music.com/forum/download.php?id=24140 )
otherwise he could have measured the pot ?

Hi!

Thanks for answering. I'll give a look to that manual (I had the BOM). Measuring is not enough, due I need to know the shape of the knob (for the cup) and the legs positioning.

Who is Mike peake?

Regards.

i'd simply buy a few of the above mentioned "highly expensive" pots ( i think there are 2 or 3 different types mostly used: small/ big / audiostereo (1 for the mainout ) ), just a couple of all types,
also a few spare pushbuttons.
buy them all at once, thereby spare on future "extensive" shippingcosts.

and for ? 60 euro or less you'll have created a sparepackage for future use for your favorite analogsynth , which once costed 5000+
not a bad deal i guess and giving a lot of mindpeace in future too

Well, you're right if you don't have to change a bunch of them. I think that the pots are expensive for buying 70, not for one or two. I'll keep looking for the reference and I'll let you know. I think it's a ver valuable info for all A6 users.

Regards.

you're right about that too.
probably the pots are commonly used in lots of other machines too.
in which and or what type exactly indeed is the question.

The designers who selected the pots did so regarding a price/performance ratio, and found the best possible combination. Remember that when producing a product like this, it is sometimes necessary to have a lot of items in stock and that can become pricey. IIRC the next-best pot was significantly more expensive than the one chosen.

I never knew the brand or number of said potentiometers.

If you have a problem with multiple pots going wrong, try the power-up calibration routine, which includes all of the controllers/ribbon/wheels etc. You'll have to find online the procedure, or find it in the manual; it will be listed along with the hard and soft reset procedures.

Thanks Peak. I've solved some problems with that (one day I always had random autotune problems in 3 OSC until I did it). Cleaning the pots deeply solved part of the issues. Anyway, I'll try to find them out.

I don't remember. It's been several years since I've had hands-on time with an Andromeda. What does the group say?
