Hi,

Lately, I'm big issues autotuning with random voices 1, 6 and 13 tunning problems. It seems like my ASIC board is broken. When starting with botton 4 pressed, it seems like easy to tune, but could be just I was lucky.

I really love this synth but a lot of troubles getting it work right. Any suggestion? Does Alesis provide ASIC spare chips?

Thanks.

Regards.

Why don't you ask them

Pretty sure they do, otherwise you can order it from that spare parts place, but either way it won't be cheap

Do you keep auto-tuning on?

I read one report from someone who appear to have his voice chips die on him but when he switched auto-tuning off and rebooted a few times they came back to life.

What you mean with keep autotuning on? What I do, it's autotuning when I start working. I'm not sure if there is a way to keep it working all time or disable it.

Check the A6 Tips and Tricks document (link in a thread at the top of this forum) to clear the tuning tables and the procedure to create new ones.

Thanks for all the answers.

Definitely, there is something wrong with my A6. I have some recurrent issues:

- Over 8 pots failing, but I think it could be more.
- Three ASICs failing (1, 6 and 13).

It's not an all time problem, but it bothers me A LOT.

I guess I have to keep testing it and buy the spares. I wrote to Alesis a few days ago with no answer. It's not the first time that they don't answer my requestes, what it's sad.

Something funny with this, it's that I use to recover the ASICs starting with +4 and doing a couple of auto tune routines. Any comment about this?

Thanks.

Regards,

Definitely, every time is harder to do a proper autotune. Alesis contact form does not work. My local Alesis support service just told me that the spares are hard to find, or impossible. I guess that I always can find them on the net.

Regards.

Have you done a hard reset? Cleared the tuning tables and followed that reset procedure? Sorry you're having trouble Sad

Hi Peake and everybody else,

Thanks a lot for caring about this. Yes, I already did various hard resets (as long as I remember is pressing 4 when switching on). I've contacted Alesis dealer/service in Spain and i'm waiting more than a week for the answer. By telephone, they told me that is VERY hard to find spares for my Andy. I think I won't get any answer (Spanish style), and the main Alesis service doesn't answer my emails, so I'm getting desperate.

Any suggestion? The site Instrumental Parts (http://www.instrumentalparts.com/ala6ansppa.html) seems pretty expensive.

Regards.

Actually I'd been considering getting a second one for a while (it's cheaper then getting the parts imported) and it was this thread that finally made me go and get a second one.

Little known fact is that the inner length of a Prophet'08 box happens to be *exactly* the same as the length of an Andromeda. Cut some packing to size and stick some on the end/s and you have an Andromeda box Very Happy

BTW You probably don't want to carry an Andromeda too far, they're quite heavy - I speak from experience!

Unfortunately, this is the reality. Andromeda spare parts are getting harder and harder to find. During the last 3 years I bought a lot of A6 parts from my Alesis dealer but the last time we talked a few months ago they couldn't deliver anything, even just a few cables I was looking for. So, I decided to buy the regular flat cables and connectors and assemble them by myself.

I doubt Instrumental Parts have a lot of spares in stock because, AFAIK, they were ordering directly from Alesis. But, if they have in stock what you need, my advice would be to buy it while you can. Or buy another A6, as suggested Wink
