YuSynth Module Caps Subject description: Good place to get caps |
|
|
Hi everyone. I'm currently building a YuSynth VCO and VCF. I have been able to find most of the parts without much trouble, however, I'm finding it difficult to find some of the caps. The 100n and 470p caps in particular. Also I see there are some 10n caps in the ADSR module (which is next on my list) . I assume these caps are polyester film from the board pics. Maybe it's because I'm in the states, but i can't seem to find them anywhere in my local shops or on the internet. I was able to get some 100n caps for the VCO but their rated for 500v because I couldn't find anything smaller. Does anyone know a good place to get these caps? |

Ok sorry all i was able to find the 100n and 10n caps, but I'm still having trouble finding 470p 1% caps for the VCF. I'm guessing I can get caps with higher tolerance and match them myself. Difficult to find in polyester tho. Can I use Polypropylene or Polystyrene caps instead? |

Polypropylene or Polystyrene cpas are better than poliester (at least for this application).
I build my Yusynth ARP VCF using Polystyrene.
Make sure you use 220pF Polystyrene for the VCO, as you need good termal
satbility. _________________ Sebo

Thanks Sebo for the info. I actually used a 270pF silver mica in the VCO because that's what I had available. Yu did specify a 220 OR 270. Hopefully that's ok? I'm a little new to this DIY electronics thing, although I have some knowledge of how it all works, I am no expert. What better way to learn than to dive in head first tho. |

Yes, 270pF silver-mica is OK, just wanted to note that it needs to be a temperature stable cap. _________________ Sebo

I used silver-mica on the VCF and it works fine. I sourced them from ebay _________________ LektroiD |

Thanks all for your input. I have found all the caps I need. In some cases I had to go with ones with a higher power rating and therefore larger, but I was able to make them all fit. |
