Subject description: Sync Issue with AMT8 after a SoundDiver session

Hi,

These days I was rediscovering the joy of making waveforms with SoundDiver for my MicrowaveXT, great time !
But something went wrong, I don't know what or when exactly but since this session, my AMT8 has been disoriented.

With Ableton:
When Live send Sync on one port, every ports receive the sync.
When Live send Sync on two ports, every ports receive a multiplied sync signal, like when you send the same sync signal two times on one port.
And so on...

With Logic:
When sync is send to one port, every ports receive it.

I re-installed the MIDIdriver of the AMT8, same issue...
I disconnected every machines on the AMT8, same issue...
I reseted the AMT8, same issue...
I tried with another computer, same issue...

Did SoundDiver send a bad sysex ?
May be the AMT8 has an hardware problem ?

Do you have any idea of what is happening ?

Thanks !

Hi,

I just have an answer from Ableton support, thanks to them Very Happy

"I can reproduce the behavior with my AMT8 in Live but it's exactly the same in Logic. It's actually not an issue of the AMT8 but a general behavior of multi-port interfaces. Please find more informations here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22651?viewlocale=en_US
You shouldn't activate Sync for a second port in this case.
(...)
I was also quite surprised about the sync behavior. Because even in Logic it's possible to select a certain destination for the sync signal. Maybe it's just for the case that more than one MIDI interface is connected.
I don't know why Apple thinks it's an advantage to send it to all by default. It would indeed be more flexible if a user were able to decide this." says Ableton support.

"Even if you choose a specific port for MIDI clock transmission (File > Song Settings > Synchronization... > MIDI), the MIDI clock signal is still sent to MIDI port 0 (all ports).
MIDI Clock is always sent globally to the MIDI interface which then distributes it to all ports. This works similarly with all multi-port MIDI interfaces. This method has the advantage that the MIDI clock signal is sent only once to the interface and not multiple times for each output port, thus reducing the MIDI data stream.
Depending on your MIDI interface, you may filter MIDI clock by filtering "realtime messages" in the setup software for the MIDI interface itself. Emagic MIDI interfaces allow this with the included Unitor Control software." From Apple support.

The solution:
"You shouldn't activate Sync for a second port in this case."
and so, filtering "realtime messages" in the setup software.

Ok.
So my AMT8 is ok and it is great news.
It also means that it was like that since the first day... and I was sometime working on some machines with multiplied sync without noticed it Confused
