Subject description: My first attempt at a cosmetic refurb project.

Hi,

New to the forum although a long time VSE member. I've just finished a cosmetic refurb of an old. worn Lead 2 keyboard and wondered what you thought. It was a first attempt at getting a synth powder coated and screen printed. It was a major pain to be honest. There are a few things I would have done differently including getting the logo correct, a couple of very minor alignment issues should have been sorted and I'm still looking for aluminium knobs for it.

welcome toris

Sure has the looks.
My old lady is also ready for a cosmetic prioject, but I like the red more than de white. Anyway, if I wouyld do this, I also would have choosen White! No black, green blue or yellow. I would choose red Very Happy

I love the black lettering though!

Hi Toris,

compliments!
It looks really unique and "expensive".

Although I am also a fan of the Clavia-red I think the white powder coating looks very "noble" and seems to be mechanically and dirt-resistant, isn't it?

Especially the wooden parts also are a very fine "upgrading" of the regular "tin-can" (therefore I love the red wooden side parts of my Nord Electro).

Have a good time!

Nice job! Almost looks like a new Clavia Virus Titanium Wink Wink Wink

I also like the wooden sides.

Thanks for the comments. The white powder coating is extremely robust, very chip and scratch resistant (within reason). The screen printing needs 7 - 10 days to fully cure so the synth isn't getting much use at the minute just in case the knobs wear it off.

I made the end cheeks from an offcut of jarrah hardwood, very easy and I quite enjoyed making them. There's something very tactile about messing about with a piece of nice hardwood (yes I am odd)

Beautiful! I wish I could do the same to my Nord Rack 3 and specially my Modular G2.

In a much less clean style, take a look at the brown Nord Lead 3 in this video. Wink
