Subject description: Delay Clock Time Value Being Ignored
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hey folks.

Encountered a weird bug last night, I'd got a performance set up on my engine with 3 slots used. Slot 2 had an input module, and a couple of delays and a reverb in series. Slots 1 and 3 had synth patches. Anyway, one of the delay modules was set to a really short delay time to thicken the input sound and the second delay was set to clocked mode and a measure value. The whole machine was being clocked by Machinedrum.

What was happening is this:

The second clocked delay module was only timing to the maximum value of the delay module (0.5sec, 1sec, 2sec etc) and ignoring the clocked value selected. Even setting it to very low values resulted in the maximum delay time. There seemed to be two ways to fix it but neither seemed to last, 1. Pess new patch on the other two slots (Just deleting everything from the other two slots did not work) and 2. Switching the nord off but keeping the editor running and then switching it back on again.

I can only assume that somehow the patch is somewhere a bit corrupted. I've never had anything happen like this before and it really felt like the ghost in the machine was giving me a headache.

No idea if it will happen tonight or not?

Ross

I've seen this too, especially with external MIDI clock. It seems that the MIDI clock rate needs to change _after_ the delay is set up (patch loaded) in order for the delay time to register.

Sorry, it's been a while since I dealt with it - config has changed significantly since then - but I think this may help you get going.

Thread resurrection!

Thanks for the tip but I manage to get around it by sending a panic all notes off signal from my MOTU XT which seems to sort the delay module to being back on on time. Add or remove a module and it has gone again, quick PANIC and its sorted again... could be worse.

Thread resurrection #2 (and not the only one today!)!
I noticed this a long time ago too. My workaroud is to turn off/on the 'MIDI Clock Receive' parameter from the System menu instead switching the nord off but keeping the editor running or fixed it with message from external gears.
