In The Netherlands, swaffling has made it to the news on several occasions. The aforementioned proclamation of the word as Dutch Word of the Year 2008 has been one such occasion, but a more infamous newsflash was that of a pupil being sent away from school after swaffling the Taj Majal and putting a video of it on the internet[7]. Dutch swafflers are eagerly awaiting similar newsflashes from the rest of the world.

Thanks!

I just read the CDM article. I enjoy reading that blog in general but I don't share his concerns as stated in the article. I don't care if other people cannot tell the difference between an iPad and a laptop - I did my share of arguing over that already. Laughing I also do not care about how a company (Moog or Apple) chooses to market its products as long as I am provided access to the technical specifications that I want to see.

Ollning... Laughing

I can't believe how a discussion about AniMoog turned into a discussion about ollning - that's one thing I would never have seen coming. I hear enough about ollning every day at work, thank you very much. Rape, pillage, kill

A breif explanation about the word is that "ollon" means "glans" (the anonatomical term), and has recently been turned into a verb.

You should try employment in Norway. My workplace is an ollning-free environment. Let us pray Rape, pillage, kill Let us pray
Too bad that our local 4Sound shop has been literally tipped over into ollning hell. Crying or Very sad Think about it, there they are.. the cute little Moogs... fermenting.. Shocked
I smell a rat head banging monitor

BTW, I did not get around to check the AniMoog integration with the Little Phatty.

Crying or Very sad

So, music stores are allowing people to rub their junk on $5000 synths? Is this for real?

Well, that is what i intended to test...

According to the AniMoog product page:

Quote:
MIDI in/out - Use your LittlePhatty or any other MIDI controller to control Animoog.

And according to rumours there is supposed to be some sort of "Moog surprise" hidden in there.. Shocked but you already know what kind of surprise the Moog section in the 4Sound shop provided.

Did you see the http://www.ollning.com website.
They have stuff like La Sagrada Família, Alcatraz, Madonna´s hotel room and the J. Edgar Hoover Building on their mission accomplished list. Rolling Eyes
An understaffed norwegian music store is an easy target.

I picked up a copy of the Moog AniMoog - remember, that's the topic here.

It sounds great. I haven't figured it out yet, but I'm sure it will become one of my goto apps for making music.

The AniMoog is absolutely OK. Warmly recommended. It is impossible to go wrong with this one.

Having the balls to call it "the first professional synth for the iPad" is also impressive, IMO this is so mind boggling arrogant that it ranks as number one on the list of "WMDs of stupid marketing". I had not really expected Moog Music to try something like that. I reckon they have hired a well reputed marketing agency so they are probably without ( much ) guilt.

I have a funny feeling (in fact I think I'll put money on it!) Moog have also hired a platoon of viral marketing doods to hang out on all the cool iThang blogs, to rant at all those who are quite 100% into AniMoog (Lovin' it 99.9%- just isn't good enough.....), just to get mega appstore ratings. Yep, I would not say this is all that professional. This may be their first professional app, but not the first ever. Their Filtatron app is 99 cents now too. That one is certainly, by no stretch of the imagination, professional. It's loaded with problems. But, it's fun for 99 cents.

These two apps are certainly worth $2...

We can only hope that they aren´t just about to kill their brand. I miss that trustworthy, restrained and humble approach from the Robert Moog era. The products are still more than OK. Too bad the marketing people are seemingly moving the brand towards a rehash of an Armani fragrance. scratch

It sounds good and is quite playable.

As I understand it, it is like a wave table synth. You can load up 8 different table slots which are morphed as the cursor moves on the y axis, z axis scans through the wavetable. Reminds me of VS or wavestation. Poly aftertouch is nice.

I bought both the filter app and the AniMoog. Well spent 2.x euro.

I like the AniMoog, but there is little very new about the interface and the concepts. The sound is very good and the design clearly shows that they have made some sensible choices regarding the interface. IMO it is less innovative than it seems like at first, but that is not really a problem and innovative does not equal good.
Bottom line is that it is a great little instrument that many will have a lot of fun playing with and some will make great music with it. Idea I have actually said the same thing about guitars and synths in general. Laughing

I´m still hoping for a 96x class Moog sequencer app, but I reckon Five12 or someone else will come up with something truly smart before Moog Music goes there. There is probably no mass market for something like that.

And the surprise is polyphony over MIDI?

One iPad + $0.99 US is certainly cheaper than buying multiple Slim Phatty modules for polyphony.

I wonder if polphony is the only surprise for Voyager and Phatty owners.

I guess the Roland would be a better choice for the keyboardist who plays classic rock or "pop progressive rock" (Yes, Genesis, etc. - not a more challenging prog-rock group like Univers Zero) and is not mentally/emotionally capable of handling the alternative interface.
