I wasnt able to get the same exponential behaviour on the G2 lin FM inputs..regardless what i tried.. i had to give up...

Somebody else knows how to do it ?

I am not exactly sure this is what you need, but I was able to approximate
y=e^x, using the formula:

e^x=1+x+x^2/2!+x^3/3!+x^4/4!+x^5/5! ...

input marked x (yellow)
output marked y=e^x (yellow)

I checked for 3 simple values:
e exp -1=1/x. (returns the correct value.)
e exp 0=1. (returns the correct value.) and
e exp 1=e. (returns the correct value.)

Hope this is helpful.

y=e exp x.pch2
 Description:
y=e^x approximation based on the e^x=1+x+x^2/2!+x^3/3!+x^4/4!+x^5/5! ... formula.

To my knowledge the FMA input is a linear input with twice the sensitivity of the gray input.

I was refering to the Classic's module, not to the G2 ...

I know...but i still have the problem to interpretate 2 as sensetiv...because all the inputs are scale from 0-127...are talking about the exponential curve?

Now you got me confused ... I was recalling some dusty knowledge from my head .. let me try to undust.

From page 35 of the Classic manual :

FREQUENCY MODULATION (FM)
A signal routed to an FM input on a module affects the pitch by modulating it linearly in the frequency scale (see figure below).

[the figure refuses to be pasted here]

---------

Twice as sensitive ... ah right, you were refering to the knob characteristic probably - the knob has an exponential curve (type II, explained on page 31 of the manual).

And I meant that where the grey input gives a certain frequency deviation (absolute, in Hz) for a certain input value the FMA input will give twice that deviation when the attenuator knob is turned fully open / clock wise.

The grey inputs are linear FM inputs as well - although the manual doesnt tell you so.

(The manual I used is http://www.clavia.se/nordmodular/Files/NM3_0Ed2Manual.pdf )

The exp/dB curve on the G2 is different to the exp curve of the NM1. (Note: the G2 exp and dB curve are the same)

This exp curve is always a compromise, as it should allow for both very shallow modulation (lower half of the knob range) and for mixing of audio levels (higher half of the knob range). The NM1 exp curve had too little resolution to conveniently mix audio levels, so the curve got balanced better. It is definitely more versatile now.

Keep in mind that backwards compatibility has not been one of the design specifications. So, it does not pay to try to get things exactly like on the NM1, many times that won't work.
