connecting power to multiple modules

How do people connect the MFOS 12v power supply to other modules? Does everyone just solder them together, or, in the interest of modularity, do people use plugs? And if so, what kind?
I was thinking of using 1/4 stereo jacks and stereo patch cords. Is there any reason I can't use these for plugging new modules into the power supply?

Don't 1/4" jacks short out temporarily when being connected/disconnected?

If the power's off when you do it that's not an issue. But doing it when the power's on would probably be a bad thing.

Best to use other options like Molex connectors or any other non-shorting plug/jack.

I guess when I read your post I was thinking you were trying to do something with each module in a separate box.

If that's not the case - if you are trying instead to put a bunch of modules in the same box like a synth case, then you would be wise to use the .156 MOTM connectors that are fairly standard in the modular synth community.

You can buy a PC board from cgs.synth.net, or several other vendors, that will work very well for this purpose. You can buy a cable kit from blacet.com that will help you create the necessary cables.

I use IDE connectors and ribbon cable like Doepfer, works a treat and i can power modules off the Doepfer power rail. I have just made my own version using Rays Wall Work power supply and some Vero Board. This also helps to keep things neat.

My solution:
I just ended up making a bus for the MFOS wall-wart with some stripboard and using MTA connectors, which are nice because the pins have standard board spacing. The problem is that you can't exactly mount a hunk of stripboard in any nice-looking way, so the power supply is going to be a bit of an eyesore. Oh well, what it lacks in looks it makes up for in cost effectiveness.
