Subject description: Shaky video recording needs to be stabilized!

Hey guys, i generally lurk the DIY forums but I wanted to ask a question to the larger electro music community regaurding a video problem i've encountered.

I recorded a video of a meeting with a static camera standing on a tripod; I got it going, saw it was good and left to have the meeting to have it recorded onto the DV tape.

The problem is that some guy, who had the worst jitters possible, sat next to the camera at one point after I left and was rocking the tripod with his foot somehow resulting in a tape full of shaky footage.

I was wondering, is there a video production filter/tool that could crop and stabilize my footage some how? All the rocking occurs on the X axis and i could imagine there might be an option out there that could help me out.

Any ideas or comments?
Thanks!

Most upmarket video editing suites have tools for this.

Even Apple iMovie has it.

I guess you need the more advanced tools in apps like Final Cut.
