I've been experimenting lately with using mixers and effects to create positive feedback loops that display interesting properites and can be played/navigated as an instrument.

This is video is an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNGkhrgqmPA. Using 3 pedals setup in feedback loops via the mixer, I created an aleatoric melody generator!

Does anyone else here have any experience with similar setups? I know this technique has been around a long time, and I'm interested in learning more about it.

* I know that this can cause damage to the pedals and mixer.

i haven't tried stuff like that, but to me the melody in the videoclip sounds a lot like the harmonic series of overtones or however it is called in english..

ah, thanks for bumping this, I watched the youtuber at work and liked it. Had been doing stuff like it in the past too, but it is a bit too noisy for how I live now (it works best when the room is part of the chain).

I remember obtaining unexpected and beautiful harmonic sounds in a no input / feedback configuration involving a phaser and echoes, if memory serves. The phaser did it all I think.
Besides, my half cent in terms of straightforward no-inputism :

Unreplicable.

Yes!! We do the "no-input mixer" technique a lot (especially lately).
What were you wanting to know?
