Fonik's PCB for JH's WASP Filter clone Subject description: BAT85 alternatives?) |
|
|
Hello all,
I am currently breadboarding the wasp filter clone (thanks for this!) and i just noticed that D4 and D5 are BAT85 schotkey diodes. I havent actually got any of those, can I replace them with standard 4148s or germaniums ?
Ive done a bit of googling and it seems to be down to speed, but im not totally sure so just thought id ask.
It says it for protection in the manual. maybe 4001/4004s then? Got some of those too.
Many thanks, Ben
edit... hmm, just spotted the JH schematic, theyre not implemented there. |

the schotkeys give protection, if you run the module on 5V, however, it will work with 12V or 15V without any changes.
i fyou fell you'd needed them, you could even use standard diodes, since the CMOS will have some tolerances.
i don't know abot the current schematic jürgen has up on his site, nevertheless, they were shown on an his older hand sketched schematic. _________________

I built two of these, but could only get 2 of the NTE substitutes for the BAT85. I ended up using the NTE ones on the first filter, and 4148's on the second.
It has held up ok so far, and I figure if all it is protecting is a 50cent CMOS chip then I can afford to replace it once in a while. |

i changed the topic's headline, in order to make it clear: this is about jürgen's circuit, which i once made a press'n'peel blue PCB layout for...
