Haha! Had to laugh...

Seriously though, I think electro-music.com should be SELLING lab coats with electro-music.com logos on the pockets. I can think of a few here who would LOVE to wear one! Or maybe it's just me? Rolling Eyes

Sod the T-shirts and the Klee! We DEMAND lab coats! Laughing

Damn straight! Wear one? Hell, I'd teach in one! Get my students' attention, that would salut study salut study salut study salut

I only get attention when i'm not wearing my labcoat. Wink

i watched 'the andromeda strain' for the first time this week: interesting to watch a movie which many others seem to have quoted/refered to.

also interesting to hear what vacuumpumps sounded like in the sixties. Very Happy

You brought up the Andromeda Strain but didn't mention how good the music (by Gil Mellé) is. One of my all time favorites.

(I hope it goes without saying that I'm talking about the film from 1971, not the recent remake)

The movie is really great, too. The soundtrack was originally pressed in hexagonal vinyl and had a cool sleeve that unfolded. Worth a bit these days if you could find one.

I just saw "On The Beach" again.. a brilliant post-apocalypse movie, but in that case the score was absolutely misplaced and horrible. Samuel Fuller´s "The Steel Helmet" is next. Then I guess I´ll check out "Colossus: The Forbin Project".

I looked for "On The Beach" on Netflix and found the 1959 original. It is captioned. The 2000 version on Netflix lists no caption information. Does anyone know if the 2000 version on DVD is either subtitled or captioned?

I really like Outland. Good movie! Hmmm - might put it on this weekend while the storm rages outside....as long as the power stays on.

Where can I find Outland, and is it captioned or subtitled? It's not available on Netflix.

FWIW my favourite sci-fi movie of recent years is Moon, by Duncan Jones (a.k.a. the Son of David Bowie), with a cool score by Cliff Mansell - although the "title track" (Welcome To Lunar Industries) has become somewhat overused by UK TV shows of late.

That was a good one. Cool

I've always loved Boddicker's score to Buckaroo Banzai. Such chipper music, indeed.

And by the way - the fact that the sequel to Buckaroo Banzai didn't get made should qualify as a Crime Against Humanity! One of the classic Hollywood screwups.
