Hi hexinverter
just been checking the drill templates
I cant seem to quite print it right i think
i get 142 mm from 1st hole centre to 8th hole centre horizontal axis
not 140 mm as i expected
also have you changed the led spacing to 14 mm off
the pot centre
I am getting led - 14mm - pot - 18.5mm - switch
previously was mentioned i believe,
led - 19mm - pot - 18.5mm - switch with 20mm hole centres between each step
though that is from memory.
just needed to recheck with you before i start drilling a lot of holes

cheers
denis

The templates drilled out great for me - just the way they printed from the build docs...

Hey Diablo -- I think you're using old data from when the project started.

The correct drill templates are in the build documents (found at http://www.hexinverter.net/public/sympleSEQ1.0_manual.pdf ), in the last pages. Print them out and they're ready to go!

No problemo! I can say without a doubt that there have been minor parts placement changes since I told you those numbers at the beginning. Definitely go with the sheet in the build manual -- it's a PDF, so it's just a matter of running that page off and it should be perfect Smile

Holy crap! That's a lot of holes to drill xD

Lookin' good!

PS: feel free to use hexinverter.net in place of my name. hexinverter.net is the name I operate behind Smile

Are you having that made by front panel express or something, or making it yourself? That is going to be an insane panel to make!

Shocked
yeah i make it 300 holes all up
allthough it is actually a bit worse than that
as its a false front and not all holes go through every piece . there's a 3mm ally panel behind which is 2 sheets of 3mm perspex and then another ally panel in 1.6mm bent at 90 degrees at the ends to provide mounting for the extra boards ,
hopefully one day i get to light the perspex up
hence the big holes
I will do it all myself it's actually not as hard as you would think just time consuming
I doubt there is a company out there that would be willing do this sort of panelling

Haha crazy, well good luck with that then Very Happy Yeah I've drilled some crazy ones myself, but for 300 holes I'd probably seek some sort of automated process. D:

Interesting... the tinyurl worked fine for me. The switch I was referring to is Digikey's part number EG2451-ND... same switch but with metal panel mount sleeve, and less expensive yet.

<marv>

Weird...still not working for me. Might just be my browser or something. It takes me to Digikey, but Digikey says it can't find the part number.

I got to thinking over the weekend and it occurred to me that the link I sent was probably generated while looking at the part from inside my account, as opposed to accessing it through a search. That could account for the link only partially working for someone.

Got my PCBs over the weekend... very cool, nice job. Now when the parts arrive I'll be ready to go... what fun.

I bought myself a CNC router so I could do panels like Front Panel Express... it's supposed to be delivered today so Christmas came early for me. YAY!!

Anyway, I was going to offer to drill your panel for you, diablojoy, but unfortunately my machine will not accommodate anything wider than 16" or longer than 24". Sorry I couldn't help. I bought it specifically to do front panels (up to rackmounts) and small routing/engraving work. I'll post some examples of what it can do once I'm up to speed with it.

sounds like a good machine will look forward to seeing those examples.
I looked into one a while back but just not within my budget limitations
thankyou kindly for thinking of me, i will do ok with my pedastal drill
the holes work out very accurate with the jigs i use, just cant do any engraving which is a pity

have fun with it, and keep your hands and feet away until everything stops moving....

Yeah, this is very exciting. So far I have several small projects for work planned for it so I can experiment with material that's being paid for by someone else. How cool is that.?.?. Wink

Now I get to set it up, setup a computer for it, finish the power supply for a precision spindle I got for it, learn the new software, etc, etc, etc. I think I'll be lucky to actually make chips with it by the first of the year. Can't wait to get going with it......

Woohoo! My kits arrived today Very Happy - two full, and two part, so I can get up and running quickly, and then experiment and get creative with the part kits.

The boards look fantastic, and feels very solid - a little thicker than most I have used - and everything was very neatly packaged.

Thanks Hex!

Got my kit right before xmas day and built it with ease. The drill template worked the first time without any filing. It's the blackest module in my cabinet. None more black:

Hex, awesome product and the build docs are superb. I'm going to get another full kit as soon the wake of xmas clears. Very Happy
