So I've got a simple osc that I would like to control the gate of. I was thinking there should be a way to hook a transistor to one of the outs to use as a simple vca? Im basically just wanting to use a gate signal to have it either sound when voltage is applied, or no sound, when no voltage is applied. Anyone have a simple circuit that could do this?

I tend to keep a few 4093's specifically for this purpose. Scroll down to the NAND osc. section at this great site: http://www.vidiotsquad.com/synth-stuff/simple-oscillators/

I'm sure someone here will help ya regarding transistors, I use the 4093 cuz it's less stuff I need to keep track of on my builds.

NPN transistor.

Input goes to the emitter, switch goes to the base, output goes to the collector.
