I have just successfully pulled off my first etching project using press n peel and ferric chloride. The circuit is Foniks' SSM2044 filter which is brill. I though I'd share the good news and a picture to all the good peeps. Smile
I still have to drill the holes ( and populate of course.)
Should be fun. Smile

Where did you find the graphics for this PCB? I see the top side of the board in Fonik's documentation for the project, but didn't see a copper side picture anywhere. ???? Crying or Very sad (End of workday, trying to get out of office so I confess to not spending LOTS of time looking. Rolling Eyes )

here is the newer version (2007):
http://modular.fonik.de/pdf/SSM2044small.pdf

marvkaye, the documentation you refer to is for a PCB run i did, i believe. i confess i cannot find the layout mubase built Laughing

EDIT:
it has not been on the server, however i found it on my local machine and uploaded it. here it is:
http://modular.fonik.de/pdf/SSM2044old.pdf
despite to the newer and smaller layout it provides footprints for cliff 1384 3.5mm sockets.

Thanks for making those available, Mattias. I'll get a good look at them later and prepare the inevitable barrage of questions that I'm sure will be forthcoming.

I got round to populating the board over the last couple of days. I'm using it for an SNVoice project I'm building. Tested this afternoon with a Thomas Henry Linear VCO, SN voice LFO output for CVs and baby8 sequencer and it works!! Shocked Runs on 12V with the modifications you sent me Mattias and I love it!!!!!
Can you give some tips on the best way to calibrate?? I have an oscilloscope and would like to know how to tune to the best of its abilities.. ??
Cheers,
Steve..(MuBase)..

glad you like it!

T3 sets the point where it starts to selfoscillate. turn the resonance pot fully right. set T3 so that is selfoscillate in a stable manner and ceates a sine wave. now you have a sine wave VCO!

apply a keyboard control voltage and calibrate your new sine wave VCO to 1V/oct using T1.

T2 is most likely obsolete if you wired the cutoff pot between the rails. T2 sets the initial cutoff.

[Clarkson voice modus] Yess! [\Clarkson voice modus]
Very nice filter indeed, that's the same layout I built three with. Did you tie cutoff to -12 with a 47k resistor instead of ground? The mod is somewhere here on E-M, makes it even better IMHO.
