yeah i hear you this module will eventually get done but I dont think you can ever finish a modular completely
but if i eventually manage it i will need a gabelstapler to move it. Laughing

Eep...that is sort of disturbing. Bloody postal system! Hopefully they arrive soon and in one piece! I packaged it up quite well I think! lots of padding and stuff.

Hmph...well, Fonik just got his recently, I think...super late as well.

I wish there was something I could do right now to speed it up!

My sequential switch prototype
appears to work just fine Very Happy Surprised
and so very relieved by that
before anyone asks me where is the decoupling
most of it is SMT underneath. Razz

yes only partly joking
it has happened to me before

thanks for the compliment on the switch
I am quite proud of it Smile
and spent no small amount of time laying it out
had to work to 3.8" x 2.5" exactly,
had not worked to a predetermined size before
certainly makes you concentrate more about how you go about the track routing and component placement
Was a very good learning experiance

Hey Diablojoy,

So, it would appear that someone else in Australia has also not received their sympleSEQs that pre-ordered (I just got an email) -- very sorry it's taking so long for you guys.

This actually gives me more hope though -- it's very likely that they're just taking forever and should hopefully arrive soon. Technically they are only a little over a week overdue (Canada Post quotes as being up to 6 weeks to there)

Anyway, sorry about the wait man. I know in the future that I will offer more expensive, tracked air shipping for my friends in Australia!

i uploaded a simple blank FPD file with the drills for two symplSEQs.

for verification i printed it out, and drilled a front panel. it ifts. however, i did the drills slightly larger (i.e. 7mm for the pots).

Glad to hear it arrived safely! Have fun building (and do post some pics! Wink )

Well, it looks like the kit stock has run dry, guys!

I won't be replenishing it this time unless there is adequate interest in the form of harassing emails requesting them to be replenished...lol

Boards are also almost out of stock as well! Ahhhh!

Thank you everyone for your interest in this project! It has helped me pay for a wee bit of my horrendous tuition, and most importantly, has been a wonderful learning experience.

I will continue to answer any questions here as always!

Just ordered some more boards! They should be here around March 11 or so...a few weeks. Put yourself on the mailing list to be alerted when they're back!

i made a simple (unverified) sketch of a possible wiring option for 1 master and 3 slaves:

Thanks Matthias

That looks right to me. The reSynthesis panel uses a 3 pole switch, so BCD all go to slave mode at once, but a single stage could still be overridden with the external input.

When you mention protection diodes, are you talking about having one between the input and ground (cathode toward the input)?

Thanks
Gary

easiest thing to implement would be just to solder a diode in series right into the click input on the PCB, i guess.

one thing i wonder about is: is it realy necessary to protect the inputs at all? the CMOS have some protection in there anyways, i believe, and there is not much current involved anyways!?
i remember a comment of tom gamble (ele4music) on this topic, and he loved to simplify/strip down common designs. he was asked about the missing protection diodes on his VC ADSR (4052 CMOS), and he refered exactly to the low current. he just put a 120k impedance to the inputs (maybe i should try to kill my VC ADSR with some CGS LFO action tonight?).

frontpanel arrived today. i used the new service of printed frontpanels from schaeffer (FPD). i am very disappointed! the black is not black, and they messed up the alignment of the printing overlay, and it is blurry... hope i get some money back! for the next printed frontpanel i will use my old provider again, who does an outstanding job: www.gravoprintec.de

Wow - I'm always surprised when someone produces something substandard, and then just shoves it out the door. I know they don't want to eat the cost themselves, but its such a short-sighted thing to do.

Very nice panel design! It's too bad FPD messed it up Sad

today i powered up the 1st and 2nd build, and they worked from the start. i just have to wire the external reset input, reset momentary button, and manual step button.

Mods:
- added a clock output, which is normalled to the external clock in (on the board the clock is disconnected from the 4017 by a trace cut).
- added "merge" button as well: if merge is selected the gates of subsequent steps get merged to one long gate.
- added a resistor to GND on the CV outputs to attenuate them.
- added diodes in line with the clock inputs, as well as from GND to the input.
- added a single gate out to each step.
- added eurorack power connectors and filtering on an additional proto PCB.

now i am waiting for the divider and seqswitch PCBs.

anyways, today i tried to create a 16-step sequence. there are two ways doing it:

1st option: clock to seqswitch's clock in and to the I/O, seqswitch set to 2-steps, each output goes to one sequencers input. the result: A1, B1, A2, B2 and so forth = 16 steps.

2nd option (did not work out so well with the symplSEQ): clock to seqswitch I/O, clock to divider, /8 divided output to seqswitch's clock in, seqswitch outputs to sequencers. i would have expected that 8 clocks would go to the 1st sequencer, then the next 8 clocks to the 2nd sequencer. at least that's what i experienced with my ADC sequencers when i tried this setup weeks ago. no i see 1 step overlap! i think this is what diablojoy anticipated!?

however, i got a 16-step sequence. when all 4 symplSEQs are built i will get 32-step sequences using the seqswitch.
