I bought a Casio CZ-3000, it was too cheap so couldn't resist - it will be my 4th CZ synth, my first polysynth was a CZ-1000 and I've had 2 CZ-101s over the years, still love the old phase distortion sound though Smile

I have a CZ 3000 too! I programmed a couple original sounds for it,but other than that I haven't done a whole lot with it.
If you ever get a line on the memory cartridges for it let me know because I don't have any way to store sounds.

Yeah,I found a couple similarly priced ones on this side of the pond too now.The Yahoo group was helpful for learning what the cartridge was actually called.Still I'm not sure if I want to drop that much money on one when I don't really use the synth.I think the main reason I haven't got rid of it (other than the fact that I never seem to get rid of ANYTHING Laughing ) is that the friend that gave it to me is dead. Sad

But I didn't have any trouble spending 3X that much on one of these:

Looking forward to using it for field recording/sample collecting and recording shows.Nice little unit.

OK here's a question:
Kaoss KP3 or Kaoss Quad?

The KP3 has a USB connection (has anyone run MIDI thru one of these and used as an XY touchpad?) And it can store some samples.

The Quad has dedicated effect buttons & you can layer effects. Best of all, it has multi-colored LEDs! Laughing

Which should I get?

I see Laura is gearing up! Best advice of ancient wise old sage: consult magic 8-ball.

As for me, I rarely get to post in this thread, being poor and all, but I finally saved $200 and change for four WiiMotes (two white shown, two black still in boxes) for hand and foot mounting and use in my WiiLes performance art / music exercise concept, plus the Osculator software.

The red eyes are due to a nasty cold and my very first sty in my right eye, oh joy, and the greasy hair means I'm overdue for a shower. Well I get one more day with Mom and Aunt Ginny, then it's shower time. (you cannot just take a shower whenever you want in a medical facility, unfortunately).

Let's see, this post is now 40% information and 60% BS, just about right so I'll post it!

Les

Yes, I seem to have been accumulating gadgets at the rate of about 1 per year (selling the ones I don't like, too, thank you Craigslist.)

> Best advice of ancient wise old sage: consult magic 8-ball.

is that a new gadget? Does the 8-ball have MIDI? Laughing

Wii lites performance art???? I wanna see this. Are you coming to e-M??

a shame it is so expensive. I would go less than 3 days this year except last year I went with my son and he was all pumped to stay the maximum amt of time. This year both of us have been all about Gearing up!!

Alas, Laura, it will be one more year before I can consider such a journey. I'm in Texas now and rather ill at the moment (though recovering nicely) and travel will not be practical for health and financial reasons for a while. But if you would like to see some performance progress, I have started a video blog in the Streaming Radio subforum and I will post audio samples as well. I'm also text blogging it in hmm, the wrong subforum, hmmm, i'll have to combine the blog threads somehow. Or at least end the schizophrenic dataflow lol.

I just ordered a Blue Yeti microphone with 2 year plan for just under $200 with tax from Guitar Center. It has a three-element design which allows four switch selectable patterns: Cartoid (which I will use mostly), Bidirectional (Lary King interview style), Stereo, and Omnidirectional. So it's very versatile and it's a USB mic which is best for my computer-based radio show setup. Controls on the front and back make use easy and no software drivers required. Now you will hear the real sound of my voice - no more cheap PC microphones!

Machinedrum with sampler addon. Very versatile - apart from being 5 different types of drum machine it also does live sample capture and mangling, looping, synthesis, analogue style midi sequencing and can function as an effects unit (through external inputs). You can mix and match all these features on 16 tracks as you wish.

The sampler is 12 bit and it only sports 2.5 mb of storage but this is a highly addictive box! It is very immediate and intuitive, with a mature os and feels like a modular device more than a drum machine.

Edit: Fixed broken link and uploaded a pic with my custom stand.

Just ordered a classic, the Weller WES51 soldering iron. Come with that light blue plastic case that we've all come to know and love, plus it's analog so easy dial-in setting. It's not quite as accurate as it's digital counterpart but i love dials and beepy buttons, well, not my style. Yes, I said WELLER!

Nice. My choice too. It's the most fundamental equipment in electro-music, so better make it a good one Smile

Hehe, the iron arrived today, and so did a red box from sparkfun.com full of parts which I am already patiently and carefully assembling into the thermal imaging for the blind project. What fun! I get to use the iron tomorrow or monday... (can't just fire it up in my room, oxygen tanks next door!)

Which one? I have the Extreme. It's a very nice synth. I never use its workstation features, though (not big on workstation synths).
