I am having trouble finding 1N5239B Zener Diodes around where I live. I suppose any 9.1V 500mW Zener will do for the 1V/Oct Calibrator, but I'd appreciate a quick confirmation.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but any 9.1V Zener should be ok...

ok, thanks! i guess the question was stupid. i'm just not familiar with zener diodes and wasn't sure if there was anything else to pay attention to apart from voltage and wattage.

Ah - now I see.
There are some applications where you'd want to pass a bunch of current through the zener, so the wattage would matter. In this project that really won't be a problem. Just about any 9.1V would do fine.
