I'm getting the new iPad this Friday and I want to use it for music. What midi adapter do you recommend? I heard some are powered and some take power from the iPad.

And what do you recommend for a compatible MIDI keyboard?

I know about the list. I want some first hand recommendations by some people who have tried this stuff. I am leaving out of town Thursday morning and am hoping to overnight a small midi controller and a midi adapter for the new iPad.

I have an Alesis iODOCK and like it pretty well.It might be more than you want/need if all you care about is getting midi i/o. It has mic/line in with phantam power, usb, headphone out and 1/4" line out (with separate vol controls)video out,and footswitch in. It requires power and comes with an ac adapter.
