I was looking at the COTK 1670 and fell in love with the sound, so I wondered if anything like this exists in SDIY land.

Sound examples here:

If anyone knows of anything that will do this, please let us know.

I've built one - it works well, but it only produces saws (not that there's anything wrong with that). There is also Yves Usson's Saw Animator:

http://yusynth.net/Modular/EN/SAWANIM/index.html

which is a little more flexible (varaible modulation) and you have the separate saw outputs, so you could add wave-shaping to each one before mixing. I have one of these also.

Then there's Scott Juskiw's Doomsday Machine:

http://www.tellun.com/motm/diy/tln712/TLN-712.html

which takes the idea a bit further. It's also nice in that you get 4 LFO's that can be used for other things. As you may have quesed, I have one of these as well. Mr. Green

Guitarfool thanks for the reply ,nice to know that the schematic is working ,i may build it at some point ,and that doomsday machine is way too much circuitry for me ,wouldn't try building that on stripboard
cheers

Yes, I etched my own from the digisound80 artwork. I bought the PCBs for the Doomsday Machine, though.
The layouts are correct for the Digisound as well as Yves Ussons saw animator. I put in the 2 100pF caps on the Usson board, and took them off because it turned the saw output into a triangle! Not too surprising since it acts as an integrator. Yves mentions not to put them in unless necessary (to prevent high frequency oscillations).

If you just want a BBD chorus, it would probably be much cheaper, and far easier to buy a commercial analog chorus, like a $20 Behringer analog chorus and repurpose it's PCB behind a panel. Behringer also make a very cheap Roland Dimension D clone pedal.

Simple chorus is a pretty different effect from the triple chorus ensemble though, I think. Besides Juergen's and the COTK, there's this one other analog triple chorus that, to me, sounds the best:

élkorus:

Unlike the others it has panel control over each delay line modulation speed. It's a pretty impressive effect.

I bought an Omni "Phaser" PCB off ebay a couple years ago very cheap, I haven't gotten it working yet, but I plan to do something with it eventually. I see these PCBs come up relatively frequently when people are parting-out dead Omnis.
