 |
|
Hi Guys.
Does someone here knows how it's working?
As I understand I neet 2 kind of vcfs?
Maybe someone have a scheme for it?
It doesnt have to be specific moog, only the main idea and how I can assamble it with hardware.
Cheers guys,

Hi Isak.
Can you be a little more specific? What are you trying to achieve?
PS, Monotron still going strong! _________________ ACHTUNG!

Soundlab???
I've built the soundlab didn't liked it to much and I sold it so I can't check it.
How exactly Can I do it with the soundlab?
Can you please direct me to the spacing section in the soundlab?
Thank you for the help Tom. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/mgmtrance |

I don't know exactly how it is done there, but it sounds like stereo widening, and there are a few ways to achieve it.
According to the video, it separates to different panned filters. I assume that means you send the same sound into to separate filters, and pan the outputs of those filters (one left and one right).
The one I use in Ableton is to add a delay to the sound and make one side slightly more delayed than the other (8-12ms difference I think).
Another thing I played around with is panning the sound very quickly from one side to the other. When you get the right speed it slightly widens the sound without too much wobble from the panning. _________________ JacobWatters.com |

Thank you for your reply.
What your saying is not exact.
I know what you mean about spreading the sound wide, it's not the issue here.
Please pay attantions to the tone how it changes when he turn the knob left or right.
I think it's something that have to do with 2 filters and deferent pich's to left and right.
Kind of a ring mod but not ring mod.
Make any sence?
I'll try to make it in reaktor and post the results here.
The question is if I make it in reaktor would someone here can tell me how to do it in hardware...? mmm...
Guess we will have to wait and see _________________ http://www.myspace.com/mgmtrance Last edited by isak on Fri Mar 23, 2012 4:06 am; edited 1 time in total |

From the voyager manual.
Spacing:
The SPACING control is used to determine the difference between the cutoff frequencies of the two filters in both Dual Lowpass mode and Highpass/ Lowpass mode. The numbers on the legend around the knob refer to octaves. When the SPACING control is centered, the cutoff frequencies of the two filters are identical and the filter sounds like a classic Moog Filter. Setting the SPACING control to +1 in Dual Lowpass mode means that the right filter has a cutoff frequency equal to where the CUTOFF control knob is set, and the left frequency has a cutoff frequency that is one octave higher than the right filter. This means when the CUTOFF control is swept, two resonant peaks are heard, giving the filter a unique quality.
In Highpass/Lowpass mode, the SPACING control sets the difference between the cutoff frequencies by shifting the highpass filter’s cutoff frequency up or down. When the SPACING control is fully clockwise, the cutoff frequencies of the two filters are the same, making for a very narrow bandpass filter.
So it is simply a post modulation and cutoff offset voltage for the second filter. In dual low pass mode, frequencies match when knob is centered. In highpass/lowpass mode another offset is added so the frequencies match when fully clockwise. Any stereo effect would come from the panning knob.
Might be good for space music. |

I always tend to send the two VCFs on the ASM2 to two separate VCAs, and pan the outputs (20/80)
Then I put them through a stereo flanger etc. Blah blah.
I really love this sound, as I can drive the VCFs from, say, a slow LFO on one side, and a slow glide S&H on the other side. It makes for a constantly shifting space. Sometimes more predictable than others. I hope, in the future, to do the same with some of Ian Fritz's chaos modulators which would be even better. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |
