Subject description: Looking for a midi clock or sync box
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

I need a box that sends MIDI clock.

features needed:

start/stop
tempo knob
tempo display

Does anyone know of such a device and where i can get it?

I found these but they are just project things:

I don't want to drag around a drum machine just for some sync with all my noiz toys for performing.

Thanks for any help!

I use a Yamaha QY-70. Tempo Knob is a +/- situation, but MIDI clock is very accurate. I am with you though...I don't know why this isn't the most important thing in the world?!

With the proliferation of cheapish drum machines with a MIDI clock out, that's what I would have suggested! Laughing
It can add a whole extra layer to anything you're doing. I've gone through a few looking for a nice backup kit, but I still love the Alesis SR-16. On top of well sampled sounds, and 4 outputs, it's also got great triggering options onboard which can produce sounds I just can't get anywhere else. But then again, I've gone through a doz different drum machines in the last 30 years. Embarassed
The Boss DR-202 is also another great contender, which allows real time tweaking of cutoff, resonance, decay, reverb & flanging, on any of the 256 percussion and bass samples even from midi controllers.

Thanks for raising this question and for posting the links to the projects and gear. I am playing around with an arduino as a midi processor and have written some code to output midi timing bytes (F8s) with a rate controller slider. I have some ideas for building on this, and this thread suggests ideas for additional midi clock features.

If you could get it to do something like the SND box for WAY cheaper...that would be amazing!
