Right, I was all set to, reluctantly, sell my Chameleon - seems that no one wanted it so I'm going to MAKE myself use it.
One thing I haven't been able to do though is install the Monowave skin - any tips? I've been using MIDIOX on my Vista desktop, I'd LOVE to give this mono beast a go though so if anyone has any tips?
I can't find a sysex file, just a MIDI file?
Please note: I'm not OVERLY familiar with the process of sending/receiving system messages so I'm really sorry if I am asking stupid questions.
Thanks |

Might as well accept your fate in this case - there are worse things
The MIDI file contains the sysex data. You need to open the MIDI file in a sequencer or a MIDI file player, and play it back through a MIDI connection to your Chameleon.

I figured as much - can you recommend any MIDI players as I have had little-to-no luck with attempts to load Entity and Monowave (I've only tried Australis, Monowave, Fahrenheit and Entity so far with 50/50 success).
Thanks for the reply though |

I don't have any experience with MIDI file players; I'm a Cubase user, and it has that covered. A Google search may find you some free ones, or even a full sequencer. Maybe some of our members have some recommendations?
As for a 50/50 success rate - it ought to be 100% success unless something is wrong. What kind of tool did you use for this? When using a sequencer or MIDI file player, make sure that the tempo isn't too high (120 BPM or less is probably fine)

I just downloaded and tested MidiPlay. It looks like a nice program and seems t work fine. Just a single exe, no installation needed. I haven't hooked up a Chameleon to see if the Soundskins arrive safely - I'll leave it to you to test that

Hi DrJustice - I really appreciate your efforts
Am I to understand that you're responsible for one of the Soundskins on the system? |

Happy to be of help
Yes, I did make an 'official' Soundskin. But I've also had heaps of fun, experimenting and trying out little things for myself - the SDK and the whole system is simply excellent for DSP DIY'ers .

Success!
It seems my issue was with my interface/setup.
It would appear that Windows Vista is a little funny with Sysex data but more-so my MOTU 828 Mk2.
I switched my MIDI ports over to my Virus TI and am now patching in MonoWave2
I also seem to have had better results using Bome's SendSX (http://www.bome.com/products/sendsx) _________________ Crumar Bit 01, Roland SH32, 12u/104hp modular (90% DIY).
