I saw someone post in a thread a while ago a link to a very inexpensive MIDI to CV converted. They said that they use it often and build it right into their synths.

I seem to remember it being very inexpensive. The only thing I can find when searching is this one - http://www.midi-hardware.com/forums.html?section=prod_info&product=MINIcv

I don't think that is the one I saw before. Does anyone have a link to something similar that costs less?

I saw this:
http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-52722.html
and:
http://www.nutsvolts.com/uploads/magazine_downloads/11/December%201997%20Thomas%20Henry%20-%20Build%20Your%20Own%20MIDI-to-Synthesizer%20Interface.pdf

There may be something useful over at http://www.ucapps.de and http://www.midibox-shop.com/buy.html too...

Regards,
Doug

I saw the midibox thing too, but I am a little confused as to what to do. I need to buy both the Core kit and one of the AOUT kits?

I think that the arduino might be the cheapest option, but by the time I do all the work I might as well get the one in the link I listed.

I remember another post where someone asked if their midi to cv converter was adequate, and people talked about the bit rate or something for it. I can't find it now though. I wish I had bookmarked it. Sad

I would guess it might have been the Midimplant or MiniCV, both available from Roman Sowa:

I asked about this one a long time ago and was told it did not work well.

I do not have a programmer. I was hoping for a premade type of thing that i can just add to a synth.

It's not dirt-cheap, but it seems to be easy to implement. Do you know more specifics as to why it doesn't work well?

My apologies, I found my original thread and it was a different project I asked about (and it appears to have been removed, presumably because it didn't work). So forget what I said - this project might work just fine.
