Hello world.By reason of stirring around, five dogs, psycho mom, etc...my researchments in beloved analog stuff is not so smooth as i want it to be.So here i am again stacked with dilemma(or maybe not)of what is better anyway?to use active splitter in modular,or just be content with passive circuitry? Yours suggestions dudes here should be welkome. Also if someone can drop some schematic for active baby this would be lovely.Hi

An active splitter is the same as a distribution amp yeah?
I've never seen one in a synth. I think the standards are for inputs to have an impedance of 100K, and outputs - 1K. It makes it kind of infeasible to hang enough inputs off an output to create any loading problems.
Well, that's the way I understand it. Chime in anyone if that's not right. Laughing

Actually, I'd love to hear someone else explain it in another way, cos I'm not 100% convinced by that last poster! Rolling Eyes

Wouldn't this be an "active splitter" ?

or are we only talking about audio paths?

No,.... that's exactly what we're talking about! Laughing
Exactly what I just said I've never seen! Embarassed Laughing
CVs might as well be audio paths, they are often used as such, and vice-versa.

Although I'm unsure of why we might need one, 'cos I think the impedance argument makes sense, but I'd still like to hear it the way I did originally. Confused

The reason you've never seen it in a modular is because it's rarely needed, for exactly the reasons you stated.

I asked about this a couple weeks ago, and got a very...non-response....

Is this another one of those film vs C0G capacitor discussions? Smile

Hmmmm,...
Which coloured knobs have the least impact on the noise floor? Confused

Just kidding. Cool
