Dual Monlithic NPN Transistor HELP!!! |
|
|
So, I'm building a VCO based on the a schematic I found on the Hearn-Morely website https://sites.google.com/site/hearnmorley/products/hmvco1b/HMVCO1cInternalSchematic.pdf?attredirects=0&d=1, and I'm just putting together a board layout, however I cannot find a source for the LS318 dual transistor, I have found a likely replacement in the form of the Semelab 2N2369ADCSM http://products.semelab-tt.com/pdf/bipolar/2N2369ADCSM.pdf, however it doesn't give an internal schematic, and the other dual packages I've seen show an internal input resistor, whereas the LS318 datasheet shows no internal resistor.
This leaves me with several questions...
Does anyone know of a UK supplier for the LS318? Is the Semlab Chip a suitable replacement? Can I use a cheaper dual NPN transistor package? Could I get away with using two SMT NPN transistors mounted really close to each other
Thanks for your time,
Matt H |

some info from the [sdiy] list
Quote: | I've been using LS318/358 (NPN/PNP pairs). Just thought I'd mention that you can purchase, certainly in the UK - unsure on Euro/beyond, from http://www.micross.com/ -- i couldn't order
from L.S. direct- online purchase from small quantities upwards - they quote 4-6weeks typical for delivery, but most orders have come much more quickly. |
Quote: | Interestingly enough my experience was almost the opposite. The Plan B M15 oscillator uses the pairing LS318/LS352, and unfortunately Micross don't seem to carry as standard the 318 package used (so as to allow for a drop-in replacement for a repair I was doing) - not only did Micross quote an MOQ of 10 pieces for the 318, but they have a minimum order value of £100 too. So then I called Linear Systems directly, and they were more than happy to send me just 5 off of each - they weren't long in arriving either, and the postage was something silly like less than $2! The total was just over £38 which I was more than happy with! |
hope this helps

Cheers,
I could kiss you!
I didn't think of the SDIY archive, d'oh.
Thanks for your help...

Could you share this schematic? It's no longer online |

BCM847bs? Not as fancy as the LS318, but a lot of distributors have them (for very little money). |
