Hi all,
I have been messing about with tenori-on for a while now, but it has some limitations that are starting to frustrate me so I want to take a next step into making music on my computer.

I was looking at Ableton Live as a possibility, and wondered if you might have suggestions for alternatives for me. I guess Ableton will have a near-vertical learning curve but would it be worth it in the end?

I have a decent budget (special birthday pressie to myself Very Happy ) which also probably involves a new macbook Shocked

Any suggestions welcome!

If you have an iPad there is an app called Beatsurfing which allows you to draw your own controllers. it is pretty in depth and awesome. I have been using it for a lot of stuff lately.

Tenori-On appears to be inspired by Monome:

http://monome.org/

Monome devices were used with Max/MSP when they first came out. Now people use them with various kinds of software: Ableton Live, Reaktor, etc.

Launchpad for Ableton Live is probably a cheaper option, but no sensors in the Launchpad.

Go for Ableton, and download Pd for free. Then you can build whatever controller you please. And nick everyone else's! Very Happy
