Who Are The Loyal Opposition?
Seattle, Wash. - Music Ration Entertainment is proud to announce the release of the debut album by The Loyal Opposition, “Under the State.”
“Under the State” is the long awaited side project of Jason Bazinet (SMP, Front Line Assembly, 16volt and Chemlab) and Garrick Antikajian (Doll Factory and SMP). The genre-defying concept album technically falls under the category of industrial music but breaks out of that genre’s world of ridged beats, sounds and concepts.
“Under the State” was produced by the band and Chris DeMarcus at Deathproof Studios who also makes a guest appearance as an additional vocalist on the track “Khan!” The album features guitar work by Chris Roy (Doll Factory, SMP), who handled the mastering duties on the album.
“Under the State” follows the band’s breakout appearance on Music Ration Entertainment’s 2006 compilation release, “A Murderous Mix,” which contains the vitriolic “Under the State” and the break-beat rap attack of “Reality?”
The Loyal Opposition offered another taste of their sound with the dark Christmas anthem “Why I Drink,” released as a digital single in 2010.
The album “Under the State” contains the aforementioned single, a new version of the title track, a cover of U2’s “Seconds” and seven more tracks of post-industrial music that serves the disillusioned and damaged, the intellectual/ anti-fashion set, and the dancefloor as well.
Garrick and Jason both handle the vocals/lyrics on the album, thus giving it yet another dimension. Their vocal styles and lyrics differ in tone as well as in style from Jason’s sometimes sarcastic yet aggressive in-your-face ravings to Garrick’s slick, deep and cryptic caterwaul.
“I’d like to think this is an important album because this scene is stagnating. There’s too much fashion and not enough bands willing to push the envelope,” Jason said.
“We took our time on this because it had to be right,” Garrick added. “We use the same philosophy with Doll Factory. These albums are more than just product.”
“Under the State” is MRE’s eighth album release since its formation in 2004. The album will be available for purchase at any legitimate download site, including iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and CDBaby. The official release date is July 17, 2012, but it may take some time for “Under the State” to be released on some sites. Until then, the album can be purchased immediately at MRE’s preferred music retailer: http://cdbaby.com/cd/theloyalopposition
