I swear I have seen this discussed before, but couldnt find it in a quick search..

I am building the psycho LFO for the first time, I plan to play with the capacitor values to sus out the different speeds and what appeals to me, however I am interested to hear from those who have built and experienced the LFO, just to gain insight as to capacitor values (and osc speeds) works best for you

Also looking to clarify that the capacitors in question are the 4 which lead to the rate output and not the fifth on the opposite side of the circuit board?

thanks

welcome welcome to e-m

it is easier/cheaper to change the resistors on each oscillator (150k, 220k, 100k) - or replace them with 18k and a 1M pot as per the lowest oscillator, then you can adjust each oscillator independently.

The 5th cap is for the glide, if you go bigger, say 10uF, you may end up with so much glide the output is virtually a voltage that doesn't change = a bit dull. Probably best to leave it at 2u2

Ah great..

can I just get some clarification.

If I understand you correctly, you are suggesting changing the 220k and 150k resistors to 18k and also bringing these out to a 1M pot?

thanks for the advice

that's right, then you can control each oscillator individually, it does change the nature of the beast somewhat.

Ill give it a shot..

do I then bring Pin 3 of the 1m pots to each respective 560k resistor?

(sorry for all the questions Smile )

feel free to ignore me...

here's a crude pic for replacing the 150k resistor
hope it makes sense.

May I suggest, if you are new at DIY:
Build the module as per the original design first and get it working properly. Then start modding it to suit your desires.
The point is, it is hard to trouble-shoot a non-working module when you have deviated from the original design (speaking from experience here)

On Ken's page he suggests changing the set of 560k resistors as a mod.

Thanks to AndrewF for his comments here very helpful Laughing
