Hi, only had this about 2 months now, and it cuts out from the editor. when i turn it on and off again, nothing happens, need to let it sit for a while off, then maybe itll connect to the editor again.

Any thoughts?

Could this be heat related? anyone had this issue before?

Its weird, i can leave g2 on for days, but if i quit the program and reload, it often (mostly) wont see g2, need to shut down g2 for a while (up to 20 mins) before it will see it. not great for a live setup...;(

20 minutes Shocked

I never was that patient ... Laughing

What seems to happen to me is that the driver gets confused after days or weeks of usage, what I do then is reboot the computer and the G2 and then they will talk again ..

Usually some time before this the lights on modules in the editor (like the sequencer step light or the VU thingies) will stop working, but occasionally this will fix itself.

Maybe a driver uninstall / reinstall would be faster ... going to try that next time as rebooting that PC is a PITA (3 out of 4 times it won't see its network after a reboot (it has always done that even when new)).

But then again .. I have it always on and it will run OK for several weeks.

BTW .. I've seen the G2 sound engine give up only on overflow of the binary divider ... when you reset that one in time it seems to be going on forever and just the communications link will die due to what I think to be a driver issue.

Not sure how it works on a Mac ... I'm using a PC indeed.

And re. firmware, this behavior has been there in all versions, using the latest version myself as well.

Do you have an engine or a keyboard version? they behave different on startup re. what will play.

Engine will start on first performance in first performance bank and for the keys version I'm not sure, just know it to be different.

it must be something to do with the psu, not discharging properly or something. as soon as its on for a little bit and then turn it off, it wont play or do anything, unless u wait till it cools down..!?!

anyone have any ideas please?

its an engine.

If the first perf in Bank 1 normally plays even without a good Editor connection, but fails to play after a warm up and power cycle, then you have a more serious problem than just a USB connection failure. It appears that it may be a failure of the main processor to boot up properly. That could be caused by a number of things.

If you feel comfortable with it, you might open the Engine up and see if you can find an easy fix. Check for bad cable connections, an IC not properly seated in a socket, etc. Otherwise, it looks like you will need to send it in for service. Good luck!

Hej Wheely,

Hej Wheely,
Remove all your drivers, editor.
download the 1.40 os synth and reinstall 1.62 editor and 2.14 driver.

the nord page
http://www.clavia.se/main.asp?tm=Downloads&cldwn=Nord_Modular_G2&osdwn=osx

It works for me, i'm behind my laptop since one hour with the editor open and it "seems" not crashing at all. Knocking on wood ...

IF there is still a problem,

check this thread, in the top bottom of the topic (the last reply), there is a way to erase all the bank sound and start again fo zero (you can download after in the nord web page)
http://srv2.electro-music.com/forum/topic-31827-125.html

But it's for a G2 keyboard, not for an engine. There must be an key for Engine too.

Hope i write good english and you understant me ...

Let me know if you fix the bugs, i'll try help you.
I read all the bug topic now, and actually the problem is more with OS, drivers, etc .. than usb dead. Smile

So i downgraded the OS, but its still has the same problem. Sad

it must be mechanical. sometimes as soon as i turn the g2 on, and then off, when i turn it on again, no sound.

once its on, it workd fine for days.. so annoying tho, as i use this live.

the guy who sold it too me, must have known, because he didnt send it for 29 days, giving excuses. prob so i didnt have time to test it, and give bad feedback.

What is damn hot ... if it is in a rack with not much space around it and it has the expansion board installed they tend to run pretty warm .. well here they do, all three of 'm.
