These bits and pieces are hopefully going to coalesce into "Frankie" (short for Frank Converter)
He's gonna have an 8 step, 4 osc, polyphonic sequencer and amp mounted in his skull. Laughing
I'll leave the picture to describe itself.
Oh, and a (very rough) schem of the workings.

The parts you can see on that schem are not doing anything very out of the ordinary, but my aim on this one is to get the most functionality from the least number of chips.
The real interesting part which gives this thing it's potential (IMHO) is the Switch Matrix. You can see it in the photo. 4 * 8 way DIL switches, with a diode going into one side of each, with the other sides (*4) commoned. Yes, that's 32 * 1N4148's to solder! Embarassed Laughing But it's crucial. It gives up to 8 steps with a separate gate out for every step, across 4 gate buses! Very Happy
I actually built it up a couple of years ago, with no idea what it would be used for. Just thought it might come in handy. Wink

I'll do a schem for the Switch Matrix now. Just to make it clearer.

Excellent, that's the kind of stuff I was interested to see Smile I've seen that done before on sequencers, each gate bus going to a different envelope>filter>VCA>sound wave combination.

Right, I saw the block for "switch matrix" and thought it might be like that old cartoon "then a miracle occurs" Wink

They're DIL switches. Same size as a 16pin DIL IC.

I recently used a four way DIL in my latest invention, to great effect, to adjust it one feels like some kind of old-school computer hacker Razz to me, it gave the same feeling as taking the back off a device with a "no servicable parts inside" sticker on it Smile

Yeah, they are small and fiddly, but for the size/cost they are perfect for some situations.
