I was waiting for someone to mention that!
I must admit that I don't quite "get" the OP-1 but it's probably an age thing. Seems like a vastly over-priced toy to me.

TE doesn't seem concerned at all about the OP-1 looking like a "toy" and the new accessories (except the cases) accentuating its toy-like appearance even more. In fact, they seem to embrace it, according to this article:
http://www.theverge.com/2012/8/28/3270259/teenage-engineering-op-1-accessories-launch-profile
BTW, I was surprised at the weight of the OP-1 when I received it. It looks like a plastic toy, but the chassis is metal. _________________ VIRB site |

| It's quite tough as well, I have been using it for percussive skull training on the dog and it has held up well, which is more than I can say for the dog. |

Yes, but Americans also instantly associate "aluminum" with "aluminum foil".
I think the average person will have a very hard time trying to wrap their leftover barbecue with an OP-1. _________________ VIRB site |

I finally tried the Finger sequencer and the DrumBox. Fun stuff!
Now I'm auditioning various synth presets to find a suitable sound for making drone music with the Tombola sequencer.
Antimon, did you figure out how to start either game (Choplifter or the boxing one)? _________________ VIRB site |

There's a boxing game? Sure you're not just thinking of the punch effect?
Anyway, the chopper game starts if you push all four buttons to the left of the numbered ones under the screen. Can't say it blew me away, more of a fun crazy thing. _________________ Antimon's Window

Thanks! It worked for me. You're right about the punch effect.
BTW, I'm looking at the latest version of the manual, apparently released today. I was wrong, or perhaps (unintentionally) misled about the OP-1 not having a filter before these updates - there are a couple of synth engines that do have a filter, in addition to the one you mentioned as the "new" one (Nitro), which is an "effect" rather than the filter component of a synth engine. The Punch effect is also a filter. _________________ VIRB site |

the OP-1 is truly a noiz beast to be feared.
i LOVE this thing.
use it all the time in the studio and perform with it often.
once i picked up an iConn for it then it opened up to all sorts of synch for live noiz performance purposes!!
if you think it's just an overpriced toy...you are completely mistaken... _________________

I just got a used one and I love it
I have only scratched the surface of the sounds this thing can make and I'm really impressed!
Found a great forum here
