Replacing output mute transistor(Q1-Q4) Low volume problem |
|
|
Hello guys, this is my first time being here. I'm very excited to be on this forum and hoping to learn alot from you guys
I found out this place when I searched low volume output problem with my andy. Thankfully, I learned that it was output mute transistor (Q1-Q4) that needs to be replaced.
Now my problem is that where do i find parts for that mute transistor? or how to replace them. Do I just unsolder it? From the service manual, I see it's Trans N-Chan FET J111 35V 50mA TO-92 and I'm not sure if I found the right one. I try to find someone that could help me in korea but they weren't really confident to open this andy up although I provided them service manual and schematic.
I would really appreciate if you guys can enlighten me.
Thanks in advance. |

If a tech isn't confident enough to open up an Andromeda WITH the service manual, then they probably only specialize in easy repairs.
Find a new tech. I guarantee that there's someone who can help you with this. A proper tech should be able to look through a transistor catalog and identify either the original or an acceptable substitute.
Unsoldering and replacing SMD parts with only a few pins isn't really that difficult.
To find a good tech, ask them about their experience with SMD parts is and if they have the proper equipment to do those kinds of repairs, like a hot-air SMD workstation. _________________ Sneak-Thief - raw electrofunk |

Wow thanks for such a fast reply. Yeah, I wish I'm in Europe or States for this matter. People here aren't so much familiar with high valued analogue synths.
The tech I went to supposed to be the best in Korea. I mean he fixes vintage moog or roland stuff but he refused to fix andy because he wasn't sure what transistor part is need to be replaced.
Do you think unsoldering Q1-Q4 would solve this problem? |
