Calendar Event: September 5, 2012 Kutztown University hosts Dr. Joo Won Park, a modern composer and professor of computer music and audio technology from the Community College of Philadelphia, for a Computer Music Seminar in the Grim Planetarium on Wednesday, September 5, from 6-8 p.m. The event will feature an original 30 minute performance by computer science professor, Dr. Dale Parson, and his KU students as well as a 90 minute performance by Dr. Park and students from the Community College of Philadelphia. Both performances will feature video art that will be projected onto the planetarium dome. This event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Park performs with toys, kitchenware, vegetables, umbrellas, and other non-musical items by digitally processing the sounds they make. He gets inspiration from listening to swamps, city noises, his young son, and other sounds that surround him. A recent composition performed with Lego blocks is on line at

With the event coming up this Wednesday, it's time to bump this thread. On this map the venue is on the first floor of building 11 on the north side of campus (Grim -- it has a dome) and public parking is in lot B2. The event is free.
Joo Won has passed along the names of his students who will be collaborating on this event:
Tech Honors - music
James Webster - music
Je Seok Koo - video
My student collaborators will be:
Jeremy Parson - music
Tameka Holmes - video
Our Kutztown U. group will be playing zero-input mixers with FX and a laptop in the feedback loops, and projecting the signals' real-time, time domain, frequency domain and Lissajous patterns onto the dome using sndpeek during the first half hour, and then Joo Won and his students will perform for the remaining 90 minutes. I can't wait to see and hear what they do. Hope to see you there.
