I so desperately want to be there next year, and plan to be. I was devastated to miss this year's - but fortune was poking me with a stick. I have a cool live set I want to play. My son Nigel has been asking about next year's, too. he was in Arizona this last summer, so couldn't do it. He has a live performance thing, too (very "radiophonic", with test oscs and the like). So yeah, count us in! I'll walk there with my modular on my back in 2013 if I have to!

Oh, and I vote for more individual performances. I loved seeing everyone doing their thing last year. Such a great variety of terrific performances. More please!

I want to go, and I will begin saving for the trip now! My health and the health of my finances are both showing signs of improvement and if the trend continues I will be able to attend.

I would like to run a hardware workshop titled "emSynth" and a half-hour performance (or so) by the same name. That's my focus these days and you can read all about emSynth at the website: www.emsynth.com.

So far I have only attended em2009, and I am looking forward with great enthusiasm to this venue! KK and SM are two of the biggest powerhouses we got on em, so I'm sure they'll organize an amazing event!

Les

Congrats on next years date! Very Happy

I plan to be there next year if everything goes well until then.

I voted for more DIY Hardware workshops, but it was a tough choice and really is a tie with More Collabs.

Great to see that you guys plan to attend.

The KC Regional EM festival always has a large DIY presence.

Would be great to get Scot Stites to the festival, too! I spoke with Howard -- he plans to attend next year, too.

And good news: I found the problem with my second SWA1501 -- very simple, just a solder joint that broke. At the last festival we "limped along" with only one SWA1501 and it will be nice to have both of them up and running!

The advantage of two subwoofers is that I don't have to run them as "hot" -- the result is very tight bass. Not that we lacked low-end with only one of them -- but is nice to have 'em both.

The venue has a vaulted ceiling -- the room has a warm ambience without any slap-echoes or other undesirable artifacts. Thus, we get a clean and powerful sound that doesn't make ears bleed.

With Inventor, Scot Solida, Damon, Howard, and me -- that is 5 DIYr's in one place. I see a DIY jam opportunity here Smile

Thank you, Shane. Hope that you will attend. We missed you last summer.

Thanks for adding your vote to the survey. I really want to gauge interest in the various activities. Also, people do enjoy collaborations/jam sessions and want to be sure that the schedule allows plenty of time for them.

We'll have to gang up on him. He's been quiet lately - the hobbit seems to be squirreled away in his hole. Probably doing something with a delay chip again!

I'll have my Klee built for next time and Nigel will likely have his own DIY synth up and running by then, too. Yep, jam time!

Wow! Getting an early start on planning--excellent!

I will definitely be there again in 2013. If I can get my act together (quite literally), maybe I'll actually jam/perform/do something more than listen.

Yay. I'm coming next summer! I had to miss KC EM Fest this year due to a family medical emergency. Thanks for committing to host again, Kevin.

Last July I learned just one day before the festival that since they sanded and refinished the wooden dance floor area that they wouldn't allow furniture or equipment there.

I am researching a rubber floor covering -- they are interlocking 20"x20" squares that should protect the floor. I am in the process of getting samples and I hope I can talk the association into purchasing them -- or perhaps put up some of the money to purchase. It will require around 70 squares at a cost of around $9 per square. I still have to get exact measurements and exact pricing.

Needless to say, we really need the use of that space!

Instead of expensive rubber squares, why not just roll down some carpet?

I would enjoy it. But, no pressure... just wanted to suggest it to ya Laughing
I like the tracker culture, though I am completely alien. Would love to get a 101 course Wink

I don't know that I consider myself an expert by any means, as I was never really "plugged in" to the tracker scene. I'm happy to share what little I do know, though. Very Happy

Does the whole area need to be covered? Or just the places where the tables and speakers are placed? If we only have to protect small areas, some of us can bring area rugs. On the other hand, it would probably take about a dozen 5x7s to cover the entire space.

I'm afraid I have a bit of an uphill battle here.

A month or two before the festival someone had a party at the clubhouse that included a live band. After giving assurances that they'd protect the dance floor, a drummer set up his drums on top a rug. The spikes on the drum stands penetrated the carpet and poked holes in the floor. So, now the board has soured on the idea of musical instruments or furniture on the dance floor -- protection or not.

Thus, I think the only way I'm going to be able to use the space will be to get some kind of heavy-duty protection over the floor.

In other words, we are paying for someone else's stupidity. I'm sure I can work this out with the board but I've got to have my ducks in a row first.

I don't think this is anything directed at the festival, though. There have never been any complaints about us and we always leave the clubhouse clean as a whistle. (Trust me -- there are a lot of big/wild parties there -- we are quite tame!).

One of my pet peeves is equipment that doesn't work -- it drives me nuts until it is fixed.

Last summer, we managed with one of the two SWA1501 subs. This week, I received a factory-refurbished amplifier head, installed it, and it is working nicely.

We will have a great time next summer and plenty of low-end when it is needed.

I would love to perform. I could provide comic relief. Razz

I'm in St. Louis so it would be a short and easy trip.
