D'oh!...I forgot about the no competition directive too.
An overview is a good idea, and the broadcast; give some recognition to the guys who completed stuff.

Here you go trav:

Bag C - trav
4001 x 5 quad 2-input NOR
4011 x 1 quad 2-input NAND
4013 x 4 dual DFF with set/reset capability
4023 x 4 trile 3-input NAND
4051 x 1 8 channel analog multiplexer/demultipolexer
4082 x 2 dual 4-input AND
4093 x 3 quad 2input NAND Schmitt Trigger
4518 x 5 dual BCD up counter

So you got basically just a bag of logic with some counters, a mux, and two some DFF's. It's just like my bag. Pretty bleak if you ask me but with all that abundance of logic you can probably build whatever you want!

That's a lot of inverting logic! Fun stuff can be done. As i am a lover of linear cmos, this would be great for that stuff. My bag last year wasn't so lucky, i had to do without lots of inverting logic, instead i got a bunch of almost useless chips. 4019 anyone? /pukes/

That's a good point, I think I'll do some linear cmos this time also!

I have two different bags headed my way, I will flip a coin once they get here (hopefully sometime next week).

Ah, great, Elmegil, cause I think if Dr. Offset plays we will have need of one more virtual bag!

Thanks, Les! lots of logic indeed, and I know what every one of those chips does! which is a good start. Time to start brainstorming

I'm making slow sporadic progress on my challenge build. Shown in the photo below is part of the design, a stand-alone breadboard with dual SRFF oscillators, ringmod of those two, and 8 position spatializer. That alone should sound weird, but I'm also planning to build a hybrid digital / analog Karplus strong loop with piggyback chips for the summing amp. Will be fun to do a piggyback!

I's afeared!

I have no idea what some of those things are Les, but I'm looking them up now Smile.

I guess I should start a project thread for discussion of such details.

Funny thing is, googling them turns up your own previous blog posts about them Very Happy

Pretty clearly explained, I think. Thanks!

I guess that's because I wrote about those discoveries, be they novel or not, and named them so. Interesting...

So one of my bags has shown up, and I expect the other shortly....going to wait to list contents until I have them both...

But the question arises...Obviously the only chips are to be the ones in the bag, but are there any limits on other types of components?

I have a rotary encoder which I thought might be interesting to mess with (quadrature and all that) and some vactrols from the EG blowout as well....

Any other limits?

Limits? I'd suggest... I can't think of any suggestions. But, I do
have a question.

I just ran into an electronics goldmine of my own. Today I bought a case full
of 7400 type logic for pennies on the chip.

Would anyone be upset if I were to submit a ttl project to this "competition"?

I can't make any promises, but I'd like to try.

re: limits. id say adding transistors would be a no-no since you could start building logic with those. diodes are okay. but transistors/opamps/other logic shouldnt be allowed...

re:7400 as long as it were 25 random (not chosen by you) ics then fine. the point is to give yourself limitations and get creative with trying to make something. if its just a 25 ics from a well sorted list of logic good for lunettas then im not sure it should be allowed. it needs to be truly random! its no fun unless you get some stupid ic's.
