Hi Forum!
I just want to hang out with some cool guys listening to/making interesting music. Most of my friends don't even have a clue of the long history of electronic/experimental/minimal music at all, that's why I'm here
I'm doing homerecordings since 1994, play bass or e-guitar in some bands and tried uploading some of my tunes with next to no response at all...
So I think music is my hobby with lots of neurotic thoughts and self-hypnosis; I have no interest in getting a 'rock star'/stadium dj or anything else; it's really all just about the sounds
I hope I get in touch with some of you interesting guys (and girls?) and would be really flashed if someone's interested in collaboration or stuff.
You can check out some of my experimental/minimal/electronica stuff at soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/nice_voids or http://soundcloud.com/greatpacificgarbagepatch
and I just started my (not that experimental) bandcamp-site:
http://pharenhide.bandcamp.com
I would really appreciate any comments or feedback! Nice to be here |

Hi blue hell and thank you for the welcome!
I just clicked some of your colored letters below... weird! That's generative music? Is this a all-day-running live stream or prerecorded?
I noticed that I left out some of the most interesting aspects of making music: There are sooo many different approaches! Maybe you just have an idea that needs to be writen down/arranged, maybe your just diddling around, and so on...
Myself I've gone through quite a few different moods that motivated me doing some stuff. That's one point when I split my own stuff into different project names.
There is/are at least two absolutely private projects from my youth where I never released anything and had no real exchange with like-minded people (I lived in a small town), still got some cassetes full of dubby, breakbeat 90 rave tunes
I started with my bass station, a jv 1080, an akai s2000 and 70s mixer with a 1 meter long reverb spring and ATARI. As time passed by I ended up using faster computers, vsts, left cubase for ableton live... there are still some old pharenhide breakbeat tracks online somewhere. Someday I got more and more tired of that stuff (ableton has imho the worst interface design of all music programs! excel for music or what..?), my son was born, I had to write my diploma thesis and so on... no music.
nice_voids (a fun-o-nym of white noise..) was something that came up during my time working at university, totally emotionally lost and pissed of. I really tried to get deeper into puredata (yes, it is that laptop-musician idea) and built an extra patch from ground up for each track playing live by mouse. Then I got totally bored of that idea and tried to built individual 'instruments' by trying different uses of my akai lpd 8 as a midi controller. About that time a friend of mine forced me to search for my e-guitar and we formed a ever-jamming band with two other friends. About that time I felt a greater need for that instrument-feeling of real hardware. So at this point that project ended in in-matrix mixing with my mini-behringer mixer.
My favourite instument ever - hope people here can understand me - is a mixer, some effects, filters and samplers. Inspired by science and technology studies I believe in socio-technical co-construction in interaction .. to make it short: making music is you + your equipment.. that's one reason that takes me to recording single takes and making music without filling up some hard drive with gb of drum samples. Now it's just an ongoing process, without repetition, and I really like the idea not to know what' next...
okay, I will stop here now.. thank to this forum for so much space |

Just the machines doing there thing, yup .. didn't change anything the last couple of days .. but every few days I'll throw it a new patch usually, while keeping some others ... been busy with other things tho this week.
And indeed, that's one of the nice things - everyone doing their own things! _________________ Jan |
