Subject description: Recent sample manager updates don't support it

Nord recently released a new version of their Sound Manager with what look like some useful features (I don't own any products that use it, so I can't say from experience), such as the ability to refer to samples by name rather than number.

This new version also requires new firmware in the synth itself, and supports a new format for samples. More importantly, it supports only the Stage 2 and Piano 2, not the Wave.

If new sample libraries are in the new format, I don't see how they'll work in the Wave either.

The Wave has 180 MB of sample memory; the Piano 2 has 128 MB of sample memory and 512 MB of piano memory; and the Stage 2 has 380 MB of sample memory and 500 MB of piano memory.

I will not be at all surprised if Nord announces a Wave 2 at Summer NAMM on July 12. It would be particularly cool if it would also support G2 patches, but I'm not holding my breath.

At this point, it definitely looks like the Wave has quietly been discontinued. It's listed as "no longer available" at Musician's Friend and Sweetwater, and doesn't show up on the NovaMusik website at all.
