Subject description: I'm scripting the burn!

I've been selected for a great honor! In second life, every year they reenact the Burning Man art festival and at the end of the festival they set fire to this giant statue of a man made of wood.

Well, this year their scripter did not deliver so they found me and offered me the opportunity to script the man burn! Like wow man, this is a really high profile thing, thousands of people watch the man burn - just search google for an sl burning man video and look at the view count. It's talked about for years and blogged on and such.

So I decided that instead of trying to figure out a sequence for the flames and the detaching/falling of the pieces of wood, I would script a tool that enables the artists to very easily make that determination themselves. Once the tool is set up, which is admittedly somewhat intricate, the artists just have to mouse click on the pieces once to set them on fire and again to make them drop. There is even a provision for dropping big sets of pieces that shatter when they hit the ground.

It has already been a wonderful experience working with these hippy trippy beautiful people on a team that works together smoothly and elegantly. I'm having a blast!
