Hi there, this is my first visit to this site.
I have been an electronic musician for some ten years. Have owned and enjoyed using many a drum machine and synth in this time.

This year I decided to go back to full time education, I'm studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering as an undergraduate.

The time has come to start discussing our ideas for our year 1 electronics projects. The terms state that we can not use any pre bought kits, but can use existing projects / circuits as a basis for our designs.

I would like to make a simple analogue kick and snare that's controlable over midi with an arduino board.

Have any of you guys done something similar? Any tips would be gratefully received.

Thank you for reading. This board looks really cool and I look forward to contributing.

Leon

welcome Leon,

I'll move this to the DIY section, expecting it to get more response there.

Hallo,
nice circuits for such experiments are TR808 drum and snare. Good explained with verified schematics (and PCB), quite easy to build and of course nice sounding. Can be controlled via TTL level signals, so perfect for you.

If you dont want to mess with analog circuits, you can implement bass and snare in software (via DDS synthesis for example). Some examples here:

Happy coding!
